Great little product and it does just what it says. The magnet is nice and strong and the whole item is small and does fit in lots of places. BUT... it may be either unwise or illegal to use this for a loaded weapon in your car. In WA state, for instance, if you have a concealed carry license and you are driving, the loaded weapon is required by law to be on your person at all times. Plus, consider the sequence of events if you are stopped by police. If a cop walks up to either side of your car, looks in and sees a weapon before any conversation has happened, you run the risk of them shouting "GUN" and taking defensive action (which a LE friend of mine described as "pulling you out the driver's window by your hair"). If the weapon is properly concealed and on your person, you get the chance to say "Officer, I have a concealed carry permit and I am armed. How would you like to proceed?" which seems like a much better way to start off the interaction, to me. (Don't forget to keep both of those hands on the steering wheel, either.) YMMV.

The rubber coating wore off after 2 uses and scratched my gun. I have different magnet mounts employed in my home and I am not impressed with this magnet. Mounted this in the truck. It is too small to stop my stock XD40 from sliding, which is what caused the coating to come off. The magnet is not powerful enough to hold a loaded gun sideways. One bump of the road and my gun was on the floor... Returned, wish it was stronger and the coating was not so thin.

Product - This magnet is the real deal! I've purchased a few magnets from Amazon and eBay, both long bar types and smaller round types like this one, and I have to say that this little magnet definitely has some holding power. After mounting it under my desk, I immediately hung my full size M&P 9 with all 17 in the mag and 1 in the chamber and this little thing just held on. The price is half of what the other magnets I've found cost, which is the main reason I decided to try it out. I can wholeheartedly recommend this magnet to anyone looking to hide their gun but still retrieve it easily. Seller - Seller is a newer Amazon seller who definitely has their head on straight. They upgraded my shipping and left a hand written note in the package with my magnets since I was one of the first few hundred customers. It was definitely a great surprise to get the delivery confirmation much sooner than I was expecting. I can definitely say that I will be buying from this seller in the future!

Good efficient magnet. Works well Screws suck. It comes with 4 screws. 2 different lengths. I stripped 3 of the screws putting them in. Very low quality metal screws.

The magnet is very strong, to the point that it will even hold the weight of my Sig P365 when placed so the magnet is only touching/going through its kydex holster. When the magnet is attached directly to the pistol, it could mount anywhere and the gun will not shake off under any normal (even off-road) circumstances. Rock solid. It is also small, making it easy to place anywhere you want; under dash, console, top mount, side, whatever you want. One thing to note is that the adhesive tape does not seem intended for mounting. It is handy to hold the magnet in place while you screw it in, but if you are hoping to avoid screw holes and use the tape alone, you will likely be disappointed. It's not going to hold up. One complaint - the reason I did not give 5 stars - is that, from the factory, my screw holes were too small for the screws provided. I just drilled the holes out a bit, but you can imagine the annoyance of then trying to get the drilled metal shavings off of the magnet.

I'm giving this 5 stars only because I don't want to hurt this person's rating. That being said, there are some issues with the product. First of all, let me start off by saying that the service was wonderful. The seller upgraded the shipping to next day service at no charge to me! The product itself seems to be well made, but there are a couple of things that need to be improved upon. One thing that I believe should be changed is the adhesive tape they put on the back of this magnet. It's a good idea, but the tape they used is just too thick. It makes the magnet stand off of the surface you are trying to attach it to. Also, the adhesive is only strong enough to hold the magnet while you finish mounting it with the provided screws. Using it in this manner may make it convenient to mount, but it's really not necessary. The one BIG drawback to this product is even though they advertise that the magnet is coated to protect your weapon when used, the magnet is recessed far enough that the weapon actually comes in contact with the steel frame of the magnet! The paint they put on the steel frame of the magnet actually chipped after placing my weapon on it! To me this is just as damaging as if the magnet itself mated with the weapon. I feel this needs to be improved on right away.

Thus far the product has been above satisfactory. The coating on the magnet has provided protection against unwanted scratching on the slide. While I am satisfied with the product I am extremely dissatisfied with the included hardware. I am skilled in laboring with my hands and I know how to avoid stripping a screw head. I drilled pilot holes prior to attempting to attach the magnet to the PLASTIC vehicle dash. The holes were properly aligned with the magnet holes and the screws were able to be started by hand. However, I managed to strip every screw head of the provided hardware. This was not due to lack of experience, sloppy work or impatience. It is due to the sub par hardware that accompanied this product. The screw heads essentially were dissolved by the screwdriver during the attempted installation. Ultimately, I had to drive to the hardware store and pay $0.20 for the proper hardware. It works great with the appropriate hardware. This simple and smart idea was complicated and discouraging when paired with cheap unreliable hardware. On a positive note, the dealer rushed my delivery to me free of charge and sent a hand written letter. I am enjoying this product and will give the product a 5 star rating. I can only hope they will stop cutting corners and partner with hardware that will compliment this pruduct rather than complicate the product.

If you consider firearms your investment then this product is not one I would associate with a firearm. This is not a well coated product to protect at all. I have attached not only the cover coming off but the damage to my firearm. Extremely disappointed in the performance of this product all the way around. The magnet is not strong enough to hold a regular size firearm let alone a subcompact. I know have to repair the finish so further damage doesn't occur.
