Good Taps
I think 1/4-20 is my most-used tap, and I probably average 20 drill & tap holes a year. I’m not a professional machinist, just a home hobby guy. These taps have worked fine. I’ve yet top break one or wear one out. These are easy to use, wear well, and work as they should.

Work well and are well-made
I have only used this set once so far, but that's all I really hoped to get out of it. I have an aluminum AeroPrecision lower that came to me with a stripped or poorly threaded takedown pin mounting hole, which takes a 4-40 setscrew. I used the bottoming tap in this set and a little oil to successfully re-tap the mounting hole. These taps are tiny and any tap handle you already have will likely be too big. You need what is called a pin vise, basically a handle with a small collet on the end, to hold these small taps. These taps saved me a whole lot of hassle, dealing with returning a serialized item for warranty work. They cut quickly and smoothly, at least in aluminum. Worth every penny, even if I never use them again. Besides, what real man has ever said "I wish I had less tools?"

Great Price, Nicely Packaged, Work Well
The tap set (I ordered #8-32 3-piece set) arrived promptly. It was nicely packaged and appeared to be of good quality. The cutting surfaces were sharp, and the taps nicely finished. I used them to tap several blind holes in brass, and they worked just fine. Other reviewers have complained that they are flimsy and not durable, but I certainly didn't observe that. They seem just like any other tap I have used in the past. I'd definitely recommend them.

Pretty easy to use once you understand the principle
Id never used a tap in my life before and to save money I figured now was the perfect time to learn. This set is to be used with a hand tap wrench which I also bought from Amazon to be able to use these. In this set you get three different taps of the same size. One is tapered and is the one that is used when starting a new hole to be tapped. You then have another one that is basically a tap used to recut threads that have either become rusted or damaged in some way. And finally you have an end tap, that is this is the tap that you can run through the entire project and then back out to make sure that youve cleanly cut the threads. One thing I did learn about doing this is to take your time going a quarter turn then backing out then starting again to cut more thread. You do this until you have completely gone through the piece of metal then swap over to the end thread. Take some patience and time but its all worth it in the end.

Tap me up Scotty!
I've used this set several times now and have been pleased. With the three piece set I have also demonstrated to the younger generation the difference between the taper, plug, and bottoming taps. If I ever need to use the bottoming tap in a critical application i might grind a little bit off the bottom to make it sit even lower, but I might not see something like that again in 50 years.

Parts had a coating that looked like rust, but isn't. Good tools, they work fine. Great delivery, I am happy!

Broke several brand-name taps when tapping into railroad spikes for a small DIY project, but those held on. Positively surprised.

Ordered as a trial as it seemed too good to be true: a triple set of HSS 1/4-20 taps made in the USA for $20.50C. Ordered March 16th and delivered May 4. Taps are stamped made in China. Not sure how well they work but don't care - long delivery time and not made in the USA. Why call themselves Drill America?
