Bright doesn’t begin to describe the Glow in the Dark 1400. With an ultralight design to withstand speed and stability, bold fluorescent coloring and reflective accents, this racing flat is so smart it literally glows in the dark for visibility day or night. New Balance, is dedicated to helping athletes achieve their goals. It's been their mission for more than a century. It's why they don't spend money on celebrity endorsements. They spend it on research and development. It's why they don't design products to fit an image. They design them to fit. New Balance is driven to make the finest shoes for the same reason athletes lace them up: to achieve the very best.

Favourite shoe - love the clour
I have several pairs of New Balance MR1400. There is enough support for training and racing (I do 10K) in an amazingly light shoe. The low heel to toe drop of 10mm and flexible sole is great for race walking and running. I find this more comfortable then the minimus shoes. The soft upper accommodates my wide feet and bunion despite being D width ( I usually get E width). The soles for this model are lasting well, unlike previous racing comps I've used. Last but not least, I love this new crazy colour and glow in the dark.

Very nice shoe, but...
Nice shoe but I need to agree somewhat with what others are saying. This is not too small, but a bit snug. It is very lightweight and nice to run in, but the support doesn't seem to be there.

Love these shoes, they are absolutely one of my favorite shoes of all time!
I absolutely love these shoes! The colors are vibrant. The fit was *perfect* for my feet. I have long, narrow-regular width feet. Bought them in a men's 12, best way to go when you're a woman with longer feet. Had never owned a pair of running shoes. They didn't crowd my toes, and didn't leave my arches or the width swimming. I didn't have to tie them super tight to keep them snug either, like I have had to do with other men's shoes.I'm not a runner so I cannot attest to their support and durability while running, but as for walking, daily wear, routine use, they are fantastic! I'm totally hooked. Far less bulky than a standard cross trainer, more cushioned and supportive than wearing skaters and other casual shoes. I was so happy with them I almost bought a couple other colors immediately... had I the money to do so, I would have! Will say that the colors of the purple/orange pair are so vibrant that I've had people comment on them, even after months of wear. One friend even good-naturedly makes fun of me for how bright they are. In that sense, I think they would easily increase visibility if wearing them while running outside.

light, fast, and short-lived
Bought them for marathon training when I was doing about 55 miles/week and wore them for 1-2 workouts/week. Fit well and were very light and comfortable. They really felt great on runs up to about 16 miles and for up tempo workouts. Unfortunately I have had them for about 4 months now and haven't put that many miles on them in comparison to my other shoes and can tell they have all but lost the support I need for longer runs. If the price is right they are a good shoe to have in the arsenal but not the go to for high mileage training.

A Lamp unto my feet.. A light unto my Path
I had to put my sunglasses on when I opened these out of the box, but that's what I expected and what I wanted. I wasn't sure at the time of ordering if these shoes would fit because I would've preferred the "WIDE" designation which wasn't available. However, these fit perfectly and they are so light it almost seems as if there is nothing on my feet. Very comfortable. I have to confess that the reason I bought these shoes with this color, was to match a brand new drum set that I have ordered and I wanted a KILLER pair of shoes that would look great, feel great and be an attention grabber.. I got just what I wanted and more because they are great shoes all around and I'm using them in the gym as well...

Great lightweight comfortable shoes.
Love these shoes. I typically blow out the sides of any athletic shoes, and as thin as these are I expected them to blow out quickly. I was pleasantly surprised that even though they are a little narrow, they are forgiving and have withstood my wide feet as well as many 4E shoes that fit wider (but still blow out eventually). Super light and nicely cushioned, without feeling "mushy". The "glow in the dark" feature is a bit of a stretch, although they do glow a little. If that was a big selling point, I imagine you could hold them directly under a light before heading out in the dark, but I never really noticed one way or the other.

Essentially a Racing Flat
Like everyone else said, order a half size larger and you will be OK. If you are a heavier runner, these are definitely not for you. They are essentially a racing flat, so they offer very little support. They are very light and very bright. I may run in them once a week and then use them for racing, but if you run in these every day and are over my weight (160), I am thinking that there will be injuries. I've been running for 36 years and was a 30 minute 10K guy back in the day, so I know a racing flat when I see one. I think that most people are reviewing them based on their style and the function of visibility. On both of those terms, they are very good. On the topic of support, they are not good. Order them for racing if you want, but for everyday....I would go with something more stable.

So far, so good
I had another pair of new balance shoes that I bought from Dick's sporting goods and those lasted a long time so I decided to stick with new balance. Prior to new balance I used asics. Asics have more cushioning than both pairs of new balance I have owned. These mr1400 shoes are very light and are slightly narrower in the front of the shoe that my last pair of new balance. But they are still comfortable. The blue on the bottom of the shoe is a robin's egg blue color, in the picture I think it looks a tad darker than it actually is. The yellow is very bright and has a neon glow to it. I have been on about 5 runs from hard pavement, a rubber track and a treadmill. The shoes are holding up nicely and are great. I recommend them for running... My only complaint is the laces need to be a half inch longer!
