Nifty Fifty, doing Nifty Fifty thing
The Nifty Fifty is an incredible little lens that punches well above its price point. For portraits or isolating subjects, the sharpness and background blur it delivers are stunning. It’s lightweight, compact, and feels like the perfect travel companion for any photographer wanting something simple but powerful. That said, it’s not without its limitations. On an APS-C camera, the 50mm becomes more like a 75mm equivalent, so it feels quite "zoomed in." This makes it less practical for tight indoor spaces or wide shots when you're working in close quarters. If you’re in a small room and trying to fit a group of people or a wide scene into the frame, you’ll find yourself constantly backing up or hitting walls. Despite this, the Nifty Fifty is an essential tool if you understand what it’s built for. Its optical quality at this price is phenomenal, and it’s perfect for portraits, detail shots, or anything where compression and subject isolation shine. Just keep in mind the cropped field of view on APS-C sensors, and you’ll get a lot of joy out of this lens.

The best and inexpensive lens ever!
I love this lens, I have a entry level camera, R100, and with this lens my pictures look like I have an expensive one. Its a great quality lens, cheap and small and light weight which make's it great for travel photos. It ha a great built in stabilization and autofocus does wonders if you are a beginner. It does not have a a lot of bokeh but it will blur your subject's background in lower f. I take a lot of portraits and is my go to lens since I purchased it.

★★★★★ Perfect Little Powerhouse—A Must‑Have RF Prime! I ordered the Canon RF 50 mm f/1.8 STM on a whim and—boom—it was on my porch the very next day. For the money, you literally cannot find a better value. This isn’t a knock‑off or gray‑market gamble; it arrived in official Canon packaging with warranty card, instruction booklet, and the flawless build quality you’d expect straight from the manufacturer. I’m pairing it with my EOS R6 Mark II and the fit is seamless—snug mount, lightning‑quick AF, and full metadata communication. Coming from my beloved (but hefty) 70‑200 mm f/2.8 sports rig, this feather‑light and user friendly 50 mm is the missing link for: •Portraits & Lifestyle – dreamy background blur at f/1.8. •Weddings & Events – discreet size, tack‑sharp in low light. •Street & Travel – inconspicuous, fast, perfect field of view. •Food & Product – shallow depth for mouth‑watering detail. •Video & Vlogging – silent STM focus keeps the footage clean. If you shoot in tight indoor gyms, crowded receptions, or cozy living rooms, this lens will instantly earn its place in your bag. Canon’s classic “nifty fifty,” now in RF, is proof you don’t have to splurge to score pro‑level glass. Hit that “Add to Cart” button—you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!

Great lens for the price & uses it can provide you.
The perfect street lens on a full frame camera. 50mm gets you closer, but not too close to subjects when taking candid pictures on the street. Also a good in between lens on a crop sensor camera. At 80mm equivalent, you can get closer to across the street shots. For indoor events at f/1.8 the 50mm gets you decent light. It does have a bit of correction needed for the corners, as it’s not really sharp in the corners, but for most shooting it’ll work just fine. I gave it 5 stars for all over use and variety of subject matter and ease of use.

Awesome for budget
Great little lens for what I need it. My dad is always saying “get the top glass for the top photos” and while he isn’t wrong, this lens delivers on a budget! I have used this lens for countless shoots with my canon r6 mark II and it works like a dream. The shutter is quiet and it is very small/compact. I love this lens and my pictures come out clear and detailed every time.

Awesome for the Price
It's a cheapie lens, so I lowered my expectations. Nevertheless, I've been quite impressed. The images have been wonderful. I was especially excited to try my hand at images of the Aurora and Comet ATLAS A3, using a full-frame Canon R6. The results were stunning for lower-noise images in those low-light situations. However, the trade-off, when wide open at F1.8, is focus softening, coma, and ugly astigmatism toward the corners. (These lens aberrations cause wing-shaped light-flaring around stars near the image corners). Canon's exceedingly expensive RF F1.4L lenses are better in this regard, but they come with other, equally disappointing compromises and insane prices.

Excellent lens
Along with me getting my first camera (a Canon EOS r50), this is my first lens and it does amazing! I definitely plan on getting a 35mm lens at some point, but this one is amazing for a beginner. I'm still fiddling around with my manual settings because I don't want to always rely on auto settings on my camera, but this lense does amazing with helping focus on subjects. (Feat. My cat. Don't mind the scratch on her nose that's healing up, she is not the brightest in her moments of zoomies.)

Awesome lens! Beginner proof in photography
Got this for my wife for Christmas and she absolutely loves this lens! The autofocus capability is amazing and so is the quality of the pictures. She hasn’t taken any photography classes but this lens practically does it for you. Overall this is a great lens for the price point!

Five stars because it really is a great lens for the money. I am very happy with this lens. It is light and compact, which makes it ideal for everyday use. For me, its angle of view is universal, it is suitable for both landscapes and portraits. The quality of the materials is perhaps inferior to older EF lenses, but overall it is quite decent. The focusing speed is good, and the image quality at wide aperture was pleasantly surprising. The picture comes out sharp, with nice bokeh. Another plus is the small filter size (43 mm). This means that a polarizing filter or other accessories are inexpensive, which is very nice. Please note that the lens does not have an image stabilizer. Despite this, I really like this glass. It has become my favorite for shooting.
