Very Impressed by the quality.
I bought these so the family could stay in touch at Lake Nantahala in NC. There is no cell service at the lake. We kept one in the house and one in the boat and they worked like a charm. I used the high power option of 2 watts and we stayed in touch. We did get out of range when we explored the southern portion of the lake and river. Remember these units are UHF and primarily line of sight transmission. Mountains will interfere with the signal. If you go to lake Nantahala you will need a good set of walkie talkies. These are easy to use, sound great, and the batteries lasted all day. I used the rechargeable batteries and bought an extra pair.

Excellent Two-Way Radio
I bought this radio for yard work. It worked with no problem on low power mode around the yard (about an acre or so). We got bored and decided to test the range. I stayed at the house while two friends drove an atv through the neighborhood. They got to the edge of the neighborhood (3.9 miles according to google maps) and I could still clearly hear them on low power. The wind cancellation is also excellent. I had zero clue my friend was going 20+ mph on an ATV/4-Wheeler while he was talking to me. I used Amazon basics rechargeable batteries instead of the included battery packs and I had excellent battery life. We used them regularly during 8+ hours of yard work and it still showed 3/3 bars of battery life. This was with all the extra features turned on (vibracall, weather alerts, etc.). The emergency alert feature is a nice touch. Thankfully we didn’t need to use it, but we did test it and there is no way we would miss the emergency alert in case someone got hurt and needed immediate attention. Volume of radios is excellent. On full volume you could hear an incoming transmission while driving a zero turn mower (vibracall also helps with this). I cannot speak to the weatherproofing as I have not used them in poor weather, but it does seem to be a nice feature. Overall I am very happy with these radios, and would highly recommend them. They definitely live up to the Motorola name. I currently have 4 of these radios (Motorola talkabout T475), and plan to buy more.

Useful and an overall great buy
I recently purchased the Motorola Solutions T470 Talkabout Two-Way Radios from Amazon, and I have been thoroughly impressed with their performance. These radios are incredibly durable and well-built, making them perfect for any outdoor adventure or emergency preparedness situation. The build quality of the T470 radios is top-notch, with a sturdy construction that feels like it can withstand any rough handling. Plus, the rechargeable batteries are a convenient feature, ensuring that we never have to worry about running out of power when we need it most. In terms of performance, the radios offer clear communication up to 35 miles away in optimal conditions. While in suburban areas with homes all around, the quality may not be as great due to interference, once we're out in nature without buildings obstructing the signal, the clarity is fantastic. Overall, I highly recommend the Motorola Solutions T470 Talkabout Two-Way Radios to anyone in need of reliable communication for outdoor activities or emergency situations. They're durable, well-built, and offer excellent clarity when used in the right environment.

Like the function, hate the battery life - doesn't hold charge after ~2 years!
I've had prior models of Talkabouts, and it's always the same thing - batteries stop holding/taking charge after a few years of use. I got these for hunting, and others in my deer camp have same or similar models Talkabouts, and report the same issue. So they get used a couple of times a year. I don't store them drained - they are charged. Always a fresh charge before the trip. Just when I needed to use it, the battery was drained. Last year I just assumed that we drained the battery from use, but no, it clearly wasn't holding charge, in the "off" condition, mind you. Meanwhile, I have cheap made in China flashlights, cordless vacuum and other devices like that, and they remain full of juice. I forgot a headlamp in my hunting backpack for a year, it was nice and full when I found it. Range is okay, it sort of works in the woods within a mile, depending on terrain, beyond that it gets staticky and you can't hear. All the claims of "22 miles" or whatever are obviously puffery.

Fantastic buy for your hurricane preps!
Must have for hurricane prep. When the power goes out, the lights on the top automatically turn on. The speaker for the walkie is loud and easily adjusted on the top. I wish there were “less” buttons because I know my kids are going to start pressing things if I don’t lock the keys. Great combo of walkie-Talkie, NOAA radio, and FM radio. I love that it comes with a charging base so there is no excuse on where the walkies should be placed. It used a Micro USB so it would be good to have one of those kinds of cables kept with these.

Mine has defective battery
Battery on one didn't last a year. Had this pair as back up. Very lightly used inside commercial buildings with poor cell reception. Will submit 5 stars if seller/vendor replaces battery.
