Good product
This is a heavy duty product intended for industrial applications. It is a good product and will perform well but it is bulky and not intended for use around the house

As big as they are, you'd think I wouldn't lose them so often
I bought these in multiples because my tape measures disappear all the time. The true reason for their disappearance is debatable but it's either friends who like the tapes as much as I do, or I'm just good at hiding these bigger-than-normal tapes from myself. Hmmm, Me thinks it's likely the former. One of these did fail after using it heavily for about a week and I was too busy to return it. It's possible that someone dropped it or roughed it up but I don't recall anything like that ... the lock has seized up and the tape will no longer retract. The best things I like about these tapes are that they are bulky and easier to use when measuring without someone else's help: you can extend them quite a distance vertically and horizontally without the tape bending or jumping off your material. The accuracy is good enough as most of the work I use them for is rough in type work and not fine art or detailed wood working. As I get older, the easy-to-read numbers are appreciated, too. I guess I'll keep buying them because I'm likely to keep losing them despite their larger size.

Go-to favorite for framing
Perfect tape measure for laying out a 12x16 foot summer kitchen on a flat site. I used 6 different tape measures when I was laying out the corners (3:4:5 triangle across the diagonal, i.e., 20 foot diagonal) (when you get the 4 corners squared). So I had these various new to new-ish tape measures, each one measuring out a side or diagonal of the 12'x16' foundation corners. I came to a definite opinion which measure I like best on this project. I've been doing home improvements here for 30 years. This Stanley Big Max 25' tape is pretty good. It's my choice. I like that it's a durable and rugged, fat measure easy to read and I can span over 8' without it collapsing like a wet noodle when I'm doing a lot of check measures (width of room, space from hillside to deck). It has a good catch tip for rock solid accurate measurements. Its main disadvantages are that it runs out of tape at 25 feet, and sometimes the distances are longer. Also, I wish it would glow in the dark. It would be really cool if they made a metric or bi version. Metric is good for fraction-challenged folks, like when you're adjusting corners to square that 12'x16' building site and trying to remember if the other diagonal was 21-3/8 or 21-3/4. The next time I need a 25' tape measure, I would get this one again.

Retract Quality
The quality of this tape measure is very good. It retracts perfectly, which was what I was looking for.

What more could you ask for in a measuring tape? Classic Style that can never be beat. Get one and you wont be disappointed for a whole year or two till it breaks again. One of my co-workers once said 'All the measuring tapes suck, this one just sucks the least'
