This was the style of bag I was looking for and was not disappointed when I got this and put it to use. It also has a smaller one that’s perfect for my folders and he keeps them from getting damaged because they are out of the way From me constantly pulling out my textbooks. I would imagine the only Con some people would have, is that it doesn’t have a padded laptop compartment but that’s easily fixable because this bag easily hold a laptop that’s protected with a padded cover.

The best bag ever. I have taken this messenger all over the world. I’ve had it for years now and it’s holding up famously. I’m having some zipper issues but that’s only after years of hard use.

I like this bag so much, I bought another one to keep in the closet in case they discontinue it sometime in the 75 years it will take for this one to wear out. The canvas material is super rugged yet flexible. The Carhartt Brown is the only way to go on this one. It looks nice, has large compartments, great zippers, no smell, and just all around great craftsmanship. I was walking with it to work near the ocean and a pirate ship accidentally fired a cannon right at me - but luckily I was wearing this bag. -Not a mark on it! Seriously though; I had several OGIO and Samsonite briefcases as I work in IT but this bag is truly the best for the money I have seen. Better than any Chrome bag or other brands by far and 100$ is a deal. I will happily test any product they want to send me *wink wink* But you should probably buy this bag.

This bag is better than I expected it would be. Looks and feels compact but you can fit a lot of stuff in it. Very sturdy. I went from a backpack and was worried that this would be more unwieldy to carry as it has a shoulder strap but with as much stuff or more than I used to jam into my backpack this one feels lighter. I was looking for a new pack with some net/mesh pockets on the side to carry water and my coffee mug but the zippered pockets on the side work perfectly and are very snug especially with my Keurig Coffee Mug. I carry my 13" macbook in the larger compartment with no problems so far but will probably invest in a padded sleeve for more protection. Definitely get a lot of compliments on the bag from rough around the edge sorts like myself. All around great bag as it is sturdy and looks professional which is what I was looking for.

This bag is just like a sturdy Carthartt jacket. The great duck cloth, it has great zippers, strong seams, very well made. There are so many pockets and storage areas, it’s like taking a desk with you. My son is so hard to buy for and doesn’t give much feedback on gifts. He loves this bag and it looks so good for a professional guy in the trades field.

I received my Carhartt Legacy Brief Deluxe (Black) in the mail today. I'm mildly impressed with it so far. I transferred my stuff from my old "Big Dog" soft side brief, and everything fit. The Carhartt is relatively thin, but that's good for me so I can tuck it behind my truck seat. I'm a professional Home Improvement contractor. There aren't a lot of pockets to organize pens and other small items, so if you are a neat freak and want a mobile office, look elsewhere. There is a band of elastic stitched inside the outer compartment, and as the picture shows, you can clip items to it. I put my pens (with shirt clips) and sharpies there. I also put a pen-type circuit tester there, since it has a clip also. There are two large compartments: the main one is padded, and will fit a 15.4" laptop with room left for file folders or catalogs. The second compartment is thinner, but still has room for several file folders/catalogs. Neither of these compartments has any interior pockets, so there won't be anything catching your computer or files as you slip them in or out. The two end pockets have what I'll call 2/3 zippers. The zippers go from the bottom in front to just over the top in back. They fit a 16.9 oz. Coke bottle in girth, but you can't zip it totally shut because the bottle is too tall. I like the included strap! It uses metal hooks, not plastic. The best thing is the little shoulder pad is stitched in place on the center of the strap, with the length adjustments on both sides of it. That way, the pad stays where you want it and doesn't slide back and forth on the strap. The outer pockets are a small array of sizes. There's a large one that will fit a tape measure or other bulky item. I was surprised that my Color Helper spectrometer fit while still in it's hard case! The material seems adequate, but not what I'd call heavy duty like you'd expect from Carhartt. The bottom is a moisture resistant material. Being a soft sided case, it will tip over if you don't have it stuffed with stuff. I gave it only four stars because it is pricey for the size and quality. I paid a little over $80, and I feel it would be a good value at $60, but the extra $20 is for that little Carhartt patch sewn on the side...LOL I'm looking forward to using this bag, and I'll try to keep you posted with updates...

I work as a Project Manager in construction and I've had this bag a couple of months. It's very durable and convenient for my tablet, notebook and a few tools. It has a front pocket with easy access for my tape measure. It's the perfect size and it's water resistant. It has a shoulder strap that's padded but not too bulky. A great buy for the money and I expect it to last for years.

Heavy duty bag for my heavy duty tools. Very useful and tough.

I am a carpenter and needed a bag to carry my laptop and plans to site. It is a very nice looking bag that is not worried about a little dust. I can take it to sites and it won't get scratched or look messy after being in a dusty environment unlike a leather version. Plenty of space for laptop and several files or plans. Loads of storage pockets for tape measure and laser measure and pencils. Anyone looking for a messenger bag with style it can be sued by a wide spectrum of people as the style is very nice and not too utilitarian

Unlike most of the reviewers I am using this as my son's diaper bag. What can I say.... I'm a farm girl born and raised. Decided to purchase a bag that could grow with him. This is your typical Carhartt quality product! It's durable, has lots of pockets and the hardware is strong. No doubt this will last many years.
