My husband became vegetarian this year so I looked for a substitute for the chicken bouillon powder that I often used as a flavoring for savory dishes. When I searched for "mushroom bouillon" on Amazon, this umami powder came up and I decided to give it a try. The ingredients were simple and natural and pretty much what I was looking for. My family are Chinese immigrants so my parents always had a bag of pure MSG crystals in their pantry. They'd toss a small spoonful of it into every savory dish they prepared. I'm not one who steers clear of monosodium glutamate for any reason, but I would prefer it to be as naturally sourced as possible. Hence my pleasant discovery that mushrooms are naturally high in MSG which provides that yummy, savory, irresistible meaty flavor everyone loves. Well, hubby and I are both in love with this mushroom powder. We add it to eggs, stir fries, greens, soups, pretty much anything that is salty. My only qualm is that this stuff is much more expensive than chicken caldo powder. Oh well, one doesn't change their diet for financial reasons. That this powder isn't made of dead animals is its main selling point for us. No doubt even carnivores would appreciate the flavor punch it adds. Highly recommend!

Works as advertised. Makes every things taste better. Did not get 5 stars because of salt content. 260mg per half tea spoon. Not a whole lot but more than enough to make things saltier.
