Design the Home You Love: Practical Styling Advice to Make the Most of Your Space [An Interior Design Book]

I was looking for the perfect coffee table book and came across this gem! I literally received the book yesterday and read through Part 1 (approximately 109 pages)! The book contains 3 parts beginning with the Foundation, The Style Breakdown, and Styling. An added bonus for me is how I love that the author grew up in the Washington DC metro area, where I currently live too. This is not just your ordinary book with designer photos that you place on the table! Well, it does meet the designer photo criteria (haha) but also serves as a functional book that you can easily read and apply the concepts to your own home and style. The author further showcases each concept with beautiful visuals such as full-page pictures serving as the perfect coffee table book for guests. Last but not least, this book was published in 2021 so it introduces current furniture and interior design trends. Definitely recommend for the aspiring interior home designer and decorator!

Equal parts beautiful and practical I love love loved this book. The book has what all the best design books have, beautiful pictures of awesome spaces. But where this book is really special and differentiated is that it actually breaks down those spaces showing how the designers at Havenly achieved those looks. It presents a number of "style recipes" (done in a gorgeous watercolor) that show you the components of how to achieve them, it includes awesome sections like how to choose a sofa or even different ways to arrange throw pillows on a bed. Throughout the book the authors take real budgets into consideration (which I appreciated) and even go as far as suggesting things like sofa slipcovers for people who could not afford to buy a new sectional. However, that doesn't mean the spaces are not absolutely stunning. The section on where to save and where to splurge was especially helpful in showing how these incredible spaces were created on realistic budgets. I also really liked the sections that broke down different design styles (and how to get the look) and how to think through the more technical components of design like relative proportion in sofas, how to hang lighting etc. This is everything I would want a design book to be. Deeply inspirational, amazing practical and written in a way that had me smiling (also, please note, I ACTUALLY read this book and didn't just look at the beautiful picture and then stick it on a shelf). An awesome addition to any collections. Don't judge me for the fact it might be sitting on a crate next to my craig's list couch - a girl's gotta dream!

I'm always on the hunt for the best and most aesthetically pleasing coffee table books. This one is incredible and I 100% recommend it. It's also a wonderful read for anyone interested in interior design tips and inspiration! Along with the helpful design advice, there are so many gorgeous interior spreads that have given me tons of ideas for my apartment. Whenever I have guests over, they are intrigued by it and love browsing through the book - highly recommend!

this is a great addition to anyone's collection! I liked a lot of the ideas, but also wished that there was more for an eclectic taste. I know neutrals are trending but i'm always looking for more unusual ideas!

I just moved into a new space, and have been looking for home design books and practical tips on how to pull everything together. Design the Home You Love did not disappoint. Every space I’ve decorated to date has looked “okay” but there’s always something that feels a little off, or not quite like me. This book has been a gamechanger in terms of laying out all of the practical tips and tricks that I need to know to make my space actually feel like home. For example, how to think about scale and proportion (hint, err on the side of your rug being larger than you’d first think, which opens up the room), how to mix and match different colors, and even where to splurge vs. save on different items. I’ve already started following the practical advice laid out in this book, and cannot wait to see how everything comes together. I do feel more confident in my ability to decorate my home and the final outcome, and can’t wait to revisit this book in years to come.

I have many interior design books. Most are akin to showing super models wearing designer clothes - beautifully proportioned houses in beautiful locations with limitless budgets. The results are stunning but unattainable for most people. Many books don’t even bother to explain why they did certain things in a certain way. This book is more like a manual to show a girl next door how to shop from the high street and look pretty. Although the interiors displayed are not drop dead gorgeous, they are still more than desirable and, most importantly, achievable. 5 stars for filling a niche.
