Great Product
Update: 6 months in my Rubik's connected gets more time with my wife than me. She, used it to learn to solve the cube, adores the cube. Which now has stickers from the cubicle to replace the manufacturer original. I do still enjoy solving on the cube and it's one of my travel cube. It works really well with Cubeast (which works with almost all smart cubes) and helps get better breakdowns on solves. With this cube, I can see where I need to work on my solves with either the native app or Cubeast. I still highly recommend this cube. I've only had to clean and reapply lube a couple times. As a basis for this review I want to start with my cubing experience. I've been working on cubing and speedcubing for the past 2 years (for the cubers out there I am PB is 14.31 using stackmat timer). I didn't buy this for any other reason than bluetooth cubes are fun to have. I have a Gocube, Giiker, and Gan, smartcube and will be reviewing this product from a comparative approach. The Rubik's connected cube is a fun cube to have in your collection. It turns well and the cube has decent corner cutting and strong magnets. Pros: - Magnetized (a bit strong for my liking but its within reason) - Corner cutting at about 45 degrees and 35 degrees reverse corner cutting - Sticker base colors are the standard Rubiks color scheme (some kind of half-bright mixture) - Quality plastic Cons: - Terrible stickers (go get some at the cubicle for some quality stickers) - Cube is loose with not adjustment system and pops and corner twists can happen (but rarely) - Weight (its not horrible but its one of the heavier smart cubes I own) Moving on to the App, I will only be doing this from a comparative stance: - Best native app for cubing with few connectivity or app bugs - Games are interesting, not the best for learning in a fun way in my opinion (Giiker games are better for learning, but not as much fun) - Academy great for beginners but lacking in speedcuber method teaching advance techniques (Gan is better at that if you are willing to put in what you need) - Closest app to getting slice rotations correctly (all of the apps have this issue to some degree but I find that the barebones method to not try to figure it out that this app as well as the gocube app approach this situation is best. Move counts will be wrong but it doesn't try to guess what you did. - Wide moves are not picked up but it won't ruin your move count because it reads it as the opposite move (r is read as L) and then the rest of your moves record a bit weird. All in all, the app is definitely the best app on the market for beginners. Heck, my wife stole the cube because she loves the app and cube combo. Comparing the cube to other smartcubes. - More normal shape than the gocube's pillowed mess - Less lockups then the Gan cubes (seriously, I can't get those working well for me) - Quiter and less lock ups than the giiker cube I would recommend this cube to anyone from beginner to pro, it is absolutely fun to have and a quick easy way to compete. Finally, the coup de grace to the other cubes on the market. Particula, the manufacturer, is getting a special shout out here. My cube came in with a manufacturer defect. I know these things happen and I'm not in anyway dinging them for that. I am instead making a special shout out to customer service team and their outright dedication to their customers. So here is the situation, my cube came in and one center was turning slowly, and sometimes would let the edges and corners turn around it as it didn't move. So I reached out to Particula. Their response was almost immediate and with genuine concern. They were upset that a cube made it out that was less than perfect. They had me wear in the cube a bit to see if it went away, when I forgot to email them back, they reached out to me to check in. The issue was better but still occurring. I was sent a label and before I even dropped my cube off, they had already shipped out a new cube to me. Their customer service was the service of legends reaching above and beyond my expectations. Which is actually par for the course for them. When my gocube had an issue, they took it in and fixed it no questions asked. The best reason to by this cube over its competitors is the customer service alone. If you have any issues they will go out of their way to help you. Seriously, they are a spectacular company and I couldn't speak more highly of them.

Finally learned how to solve with a lot of other grate features!
I have had a number of cubes over the last 30 years and tried a few printed guides without any luck. The Rubik Connected walks you step by step with a series of videos and tutorials and after a few hours my son and I were able to solve without cheat sheets. Within a couple of days of basic play able to solve within 2 minutes. I wanted to practice the last layer so I downloaded an iPhone app Chao Timer and you swipe up with two fingers and it allows you to pick the scramble to state. So you pick last layer and it scrambles to that point so you can practice without having to solve the first 2 layers to get there. Pro 1. Beginners it gives you step by step video, text instructions and then on screen steps telling you where you went wrong. Fool proof educational approach and well worth the price. 2. Generates scrambles and starts timer with movement of cube and stops time when finished 3. Very good magnetic cube and top solvers are able to achieve 4 seconds or less. You can see world record holder times and the people in the Netflix Documentary Alex Parks and Feliks Z have their times posted. So it seems like a very good cube if the experts can achieve near world record times. Con 1. Instructions only go through the basic solve. No advance module to teach 2 look CFOP etc 2. Scramble doesn't allow you to chose to what point. Does an entire scramble every time. 3. After solving tried youtube videos like JPERM and his solve is different on the last layer. Would be excellent if they partnered with him or similar youtube star that would offer additional videos so you can approve over time. Design idea for teaching CFOP which is incredibly intimidating for new cube enthusiasts. If you were solving, while the app was running, it would be great to offer real time coaching and suggestions. eg you could use this approach here. Use crowd sourcing data. eg give 1000's of people the same scramble, record how people solve it and make that information available so people could learn new approaches. Would be interesting to see how a world champion solved, but more beneficial to see how hundreds of average users accomplished. Instructions. Note that the yellow cross step has an error. The video is correct, but the walk through has you rotate the L toward you instead of away. If you do it away F-R,U,R',U'-R,U,R'U'-F' will create the yellow cross. Video is correct, but step by step approach requires many additional steps. Will still solve, but not as efficient. If you have always wanted to solve, but the idea of watching a bunch of videos doesn't excite you this cube will walk you step by step in a fool proof approach. Good luck. It is a lot of fun to finally be able to solve!

High quality cube!
I’ve been doing Rubik’s cubes for a couple years now and have always preferred speed cubes over the original Rubik's brand cubes because of how difficult the original branded cubes are to rotate. After buying this cube I am pleased to say that they did awesome when choosing parts for this cube. The rotations are easy to perform and have a slight locking to them so it is very easy to line up for another movement. This cube performs better than most speed cubes out there, especially for beginners because the slight locking it provides helps prevent overshooting a rotation. The app is also a lot of fun and easy to navigate. It has a complete guide to help beginners learn everything they need to know in order to solve the Rubik’s cube including all algorithms and video guides. What is especially cool about this cube is it keeps track of what your current cube looks like. So if for whatever reason you can’t solve the cube you can simply go to the “Solver” page on the app and it will guide you through the solving of it. When I say it walks you through it I mean it! If you make a wrong move it will let you know and instruct you to reverse it! It’s super easy to follow along with. The competition modes in this app are also really fun, and as of the writing of this review (12/27/2020) I was able to find a match with another person within about a minute. You can compete with others based on who can solve the cube faster and in fewer moves or if your a beginner simply compete to see who can scramble the cube by following a set of moves on the screen. Whoever can perform those 30 moves quicker in scramble mode wins. The app also provides a couple games you can play solo such as “Cube Hero” which is essentially Guitar Hero where you have to rotate the cube at the right time and some songs that you can play by rotating the cube, each different kind of rotation corresponding to a different note. TLDR (Too long didn’t read): Overall this thing is awesome, great way for beginners to learn and a great way for veterans to compete against others or time themselves. The cube has high quality parts and rotates smooth and the app is great and fun to mess around with! If you found this review helpful, please consider giving it a helpful rating!

Great app, decent cube, but stickers … ugh
I like the cube - it has a very satisfying sound and movement (my first speed cube over $10). I don’t think it can be “tuned” though? The app is cool - basically spending my time in the Matches section, although at times I wonder if the people I’m playing are real people or bots. The games section is just ok with little to no instructions or guidance on how the games work. Overall, the app Matches make for a really fun way to practice and track basic stats. I don’t regret not having sensors that track cube rotation. I do wish I could see an animation of my solution though (those are fun to watch on Cubeast.com). BTW - works fine with Cubeast.com (Bluefy on iOS, Chrome on Win11). Con #1: Charging? No major charging issues but the charging indicators need work. The LED in the center white tile behind the logo doesn’t consistently light up for me. Sometimes it lights while charging, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it lights for a few seconds when I connect it to the charger. Sometimes it lights back up if I pick up the cube. But not always. So it doesn’t tell me when charging is complete. I don’t get it. Fortunately, no matter what the LED shows, the app indicates that it IS charging … but that’s another weird point as the app shows the battery level jump to 100% as soon as I connect to the charger. I wonder if there was an intent to have the battery level icon (a small Rubik’s cube) animate while charging because sometimes the icon shows a solid green cube and other times a partial green cube. But it doesn’t animate. Also, it shows 100% while charging so you have to unplug it to see the actual battery level … maybe even restart the app to get the battery level indicator to update. Once charged, mine shows 99% (not 100%) and it drops quickly but then stays between 60-85% while using throughout the day. It’s just weird. Con #2 - stickers! After less than a week of moderate use (almost 200 games per the stats page) and the stickers are looking and feeling pretty rough. I bought a sheet of spare stickers as I suspect I’ll need them soon, but I’m not looking forward to replacing them - Will the old ones remove nicely? Will the new one be easy to put on straight? Will they stick as good as the originals? Ugh. Overall, I’m satisfied … mainly because it feels solid, the app is clean, and the cube looks close to the original (vs white speed cubes). The charging stuff is just annoying and needs work. The fact that it uses stickers is the worst part but I accepted that when I made the purchase.

Something that seems complicated instantly made simple!
**UPDATED REVIEW** My story is similar to a lot of folks. I have always wanted to learn how to consistently and reliably solve a Rubik's cube. Since childhood I have messed around with them, without ever truly understanding it's secrets. When algorithmic solutions became widely available for the first time thanks to the advent of the Internet, I printed off some instructions and gave it a go. For some reason I still couldn't consistently achieve a solve; in fact I found these printed instructions tedious. Enter the Rubik's Connected. This thing is amazing and completely lives up to the hype. The initial unboxing and setup is about the only negative thing I can say about this product. There are NO instructions included with this cube, but common sense tells you to download the app and hope for the best, and that is what I did. The app will ask you to pry off a tile and reset the cube by pressing the tiniest possible button I have ever seen. The app says this can take anywhere between 30 seconds and 3 minutes, and unfortunately my cube did indeed take a full 3 minutes. This awkward introduction made me concerned initially, however these concerns were quickly forgotten once the cube was up and running. The cube seamlessly connected to the app and the app registered the moves smoothly and reliably. The cube rotation is silky smooth compared to a Rubik's brand cube, but not compared to a modern speed cube. There is a compromise here as the best alternative is the Gan UI 12 which costs MORE than double! When turning the cube does gently click into place in a satisfying way. I would definitely recommend frequently adding a lubricant. Most importantly, the app easily teaches you how to solve the cube in a quick and simple manner. After years of being in the dark, the mysteries of a Rubik's Cube have been opened. Online play is well thought out and there is a solid player base. This product was worth every cent.

Super Snappy, EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!
Background: During Covid I was bored and decided to learn the cube. Since then I've got pretty good but the original cube I bought didn't cut corners very well and would cause me to over shoot my turns sometimes. Currently my personal best time is 1:19 and I've been trying to find a cube that would help me get under a minute. Every time I buy an expensive "Speed Cube" that is recomended on all the YouTube Channels or websites I'm just disappointed. The problem with the ones I've tried is they are so "fast", or in my novice vocabulary loose, that I ened up spinning them in directions I don't want to when doing other moves. I'm sure this has something to do with my skill level, but I'd like something that will help me were I'm at. I've bought 4 different ones and even tried the ones with different tension settings and magnets as well as tightening them with a screwdriver. In addition, I've also been using a separate app to time myself. You have to go from using the cube to pushing the button on your phone screen and sometimes you don't hit the screen right and a few more seconds are added. Pros: I bought this cube because I thought it was cool that the app was directely linked to the cube and some of the reviews mentioned how snappy it was to it's positioning. HOLY COW, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It snaps right into it's position really well and over shooting is not an issue at all. It also cuts the corners very well and having the app do the time for me is way better than what I was doing in the past. I'm super stoked I decided to give this one a try and it will be the primary cube from now on. I'm also buying one as a gift. Cons: The box doesn't really come with any documentation so I had to look on the Amazon questions here to figure out there is a light under the middle white Rubiks cube sticker that lights up to let you know you are charging. Then you have to download the app to see how charged it is. Other than that, it was pretty self explanitory....it's just a rubiks cube. The only other thing I can say, which is my biggest complaint is that the color of the Orange and Yellow is a little too similar. My other cube definitely has a way better contrast than this one. I would imagine after using it for awhile I'll get used to it, but initially it's a little confusing when I'm trying to be fast. If I don't get used to it, I'll just buy some different stickers or maybe just cut some orange ones out with my cricut. I heard TheCubicle.com are really good. I'll update this, if I end up buying some of those. Other: Since I already know the beginner method or what some may call the White Cross or the layered method I didn't use the app to learn. However, I originally just learned the algorythms and never learned the official way to read cube moves. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, they have a letter like U or U' (U prime). This letter tells you to move the top of the cube clockwise (U) or counter-clockwise (U'). Since I started using the other app to time myself I started teaching myself to read moves like this so I could use their scramble code instead of just mixing it up on my own all willy nilly. With all that being said, the way the Rubiks Connected app shows the cube while I'm scrambling and shows me when I mess up is very clear and easy to understand. With that in mind, I can say that if you were using this to teach yourself how to cube I think it would be extremely helpful.

DO NOT buy this product!!
I have been cubing for over a decade, and I waa really excited to get this cube to do a youtube review on it. Well, the cube is defective. I plugged the charger into the puzzle and left it for 3 hours and nothing. I tried reseting it, a different outlet for the charger, and even cleaning the cube. None of these seemed to help. It still did not work. I have some friends that ordered rhe cube as well, and they are having the exact same problem: it just does not work at all. As a long time cuber, I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT waste your money on this product.
