I've been using this Aveeno product for a number of years. It's the only product I've found that immediately stops the itch from bug bites and mild hives. Our little neighbor friends call it "magic lotion" because it stops the itch of mosquito bites immediately. I use it for mild hives, and nothing else comes close to the instant relief it provides. A little goes a long way, too. It has calamine in it, so it's not meant to be moisturizing, but it is soothing in addition to stopping itch. It would probably be great for poison ivy as well. I highly recommend it.

Mosquitoes/insects love me a lot. Unfortunately I'm also the kind of person who gets large welts after getting bitten and the reaction is so bad I look like someone has beaten me up. This particular Aveeno (they are not all the same - this formula is hard to find in stores) calms my itching down immediately and allows me a good night sleep but also keeps the welts from getting too huge and ugly. Yes, it smells like calamine lotion, but to me that's simply the price you pay for relief and I'm happy to do so.

This product really helped me and my doggie. He is more prone to itchy skin then I am, but recently, he had a large area around his neck that had gotten some doctoring, and as it healed was driving him crazy for the itching. I used Aveno on it , and he stopped itching and went to sleep. If you use it for your pets, maybe you should contact your vet about it first. It works, is smooth and soothing, and easy to apply. I always have my caregiver use this on my back because I have very dry itchy skin. It helps except for one crazy spot that itches almost constantly. I think it is because I am a diabetic and have some nerve damage. Nothing seems to help the itch in that one spot. I mean nothing. I like it for the rest of the areas on my back where I can't reach myself.

We have used this "itch" cream for years, best on the market. My husband has tried numerous creams to stem his incessant itchy arm in the middle of the night, this works like a charm. I have excema and it relieves that as well. He's not "itching" for anything better!

Is it a good value for the money? I don't know but when you're itchy and nothing else seems to stop the itch doesn't matter if it's a good value for the money? Of course it does not matter! It smells like calamine. If you've never smelled calamine before that's what it smells like. All these people who are saying it has a really bad smell... The smell is calamine. It is calming to the skin. It is moisturizing to the skin. And it does seem to stop the itch. So it does everything it's supposed to do none of the ingredients are a surprise.

I have Eczema and use a body lotion constantly during the winter months. But I was looking for a treatment lotion or ointment to use on specific itchy areas that were especially bad. I read that Hydrocortisone cream is actually bad to use on a regular basis as it thins the skin membranes and make you itchier with prolonged use, so I wanted something to replace that. This had great reviews and I saw several mentions of people using it for Eczema so I thought I'd give it a try. I've done quite a bit of reading on Eczema and medicated products like this aren't generally recommended for the record, but when you get desperate you'll try anything to stop an itch. Anyway, this seems like a decent product and it will be nice to have on hand, but it didn't do much for my itch; the effect was very mild. It's better to have on hand for insect bites and that sort of thing. Incidentally, I put it away after a few uses and thought to review it today when I took it back out to use for a bug bite. It "helps" but doesn't stop the itch, both on the eczema and the bug bite. I will use this as needed and it's certainly better than nothing, but I probably would not buy it again. Oh, It does have a strong menthol scent, so be aware of that.
