Fine. Support cost
Pros: I have two Phottix Indra500s, three Phottix battery packs, and two Odin transmitters. I use these guys with my Nikon DSLRs in my home studio and on location without any issues, ever. Battery life is phenomenal, cycle times are adequate for my needs, white temp doesn't fluctuate, and controls are effortless. I switched from Paul Buff strobes and PocketWizards after seeing Phottix in action and hearing testimonials from industry pros at WPPI 2015. The Odin transmitter is 100% reliable and so far hasn't been affected by RF interference, such as that produced by old wiring in some wedding venues.Cons: Phottix could make the battery cases shockproof. See Support below.Support: Fine. Support cost: On the high side. I dropped a battery pack from a fair distance this spring and broke something inside. I contacted Phottix's US support (MACGroup 75 Virginia Rd, White Plains, NY 10603, 914-347-3300) and received an immediate response. I sent my battery pack in for repair. My battery pack was out of warranty, and I paid $190 to replace and return it. I received it within 10 days.

Not so lucky this time
I have used these lights in the past and loved themThis pair also had a problem with the electronics function and would not fire from my Odin ii sending unitsI have used this model of lights since they were first introduced in our studio as well as mostly outdoor lighting for sessionsOne or two at a time fore senior sessions and 2 or 3 for family groups3 or 4 for large groups like an entire graduating classThis batch was poorly packaged received damaged and and in dispute with sellerI found another set at half the price on eBay and they have been working greatI was very disappointed in the A to Z processThey would not even let me submit my researched photos and evidence.Up until now Amazon has been a great choice for the over 300 orders we have placed each year for many years now

This thing works
Honestly, I see some indifferent reviews on this but in my honest opinion I use this for weddings and it’s an absolutely amazing tool. I set two of these bad larry’s up in each corner of the room and it gives me a quality light and delivers every time. I understand there are talks about the different warmth of the light but again in my honest opinion this does not affect me in anyway not have I noticed it when doing studio work. A little slider can fix anything.

GREAT SYSTEM WITH DEFECTIVE BATTERIES. (WITHOUT GOOD BATTERIES IS USELESS)
This has the potential to be a solid competitor for the Profoto B1 and B2 right? I mean it does have TTL 500Watts. ( around 10 speedlights). The battery is separated from the light but still light and powerful. There are some inconsistencies with the white balance when you push different apertures. Nothing that can't be corrected in post, but only if you have the time. If you are a fast pace fashion photographer, get profoto or broncolor.Anyways, this has the potential to be a great system.PROS:This is half the price of the ProfotoOffers TTL500wattsGreat Carrying case.CONS:White balance inconsistencies with aperture changes.NO SUPPORT!!!!!Horrible batteries. The batteries are supposed to last 400 cycles. If you charge your battery twice a week, That is 4 years. Not this one. It died after 25 cycles. I had to buy another one and guess what? Happened the same.I'm trying to find a solution at the time since buying another defective one will not fix the problem.

Support isn't what I was expecting on an Update going backwards...
In review DO NOT UPDATE the Indra500 TTL flash to 1.06 if you are purchasing the Odin II's it all worked out of the box and I updated the flash because the info said it was updating TTL and HSS along with color balance stability, so I did and who would of thought that it was going backwards when making an update from 1.05 to 1.06!Please be aware of this problem. I think I would give it 5 stars if the following didn't happen...A Big Set back to me I hate to have to do something twice and who knows how long this may take. I wanted to save but I think I'll may make a change to Profit if I can return these items.May 9th. 2016 pm/ I just opened my new light and Odin II Transmitter & Receiver. I looked to see about firmware updates. I use Mac and had an issue so I did the update on the flash with the PC version. All seemed well in going from 1.05 to 1.06. But when I powered up the light and transmitter I have only 4 menus instead of the 5 before the change. Also only 4 channels instead of the 32 and No ID available? What did I do wrong?May 10th.am/ I tried again to download/update the firmware for the Phottix_Indra500_TTL_studio_light_V1.06/MAC/FDS\ V1.64.app I was able to do it on my mac using terminal approach. Still I don't have any channels 5-32 or D & E groups and the ID available. I wish I haven't wasted my time on this. But the info said to check for updates. I guess I should of not done that. Very Disappointing. LestereMail May 11th.amPhottix (HK) Ltd.Dear Lester Wilson,Answer: Thank you for contacting us. For Indra, V1.06 features only 4 channels for now. What Happened! Can I just get it back to the 1.05 version? Very Disappointing, I think I am going to ask for a refund! At least Thank You for the reply! LesterI have the Canon 600 RT EX with trigger and it wrks nice. I have made many thousands of dollars in Canon purchases from Amazon, I think I'll need to reevaluate my shopping preferences again.Lester Wilson
