Yet another great OXO product!
I like to bake using weight rather than scoopable measuring cups. My results are consistent EVERY time regardless of humidity and other factors that can affect so many baked goods. For years, I used an old Weight Watchers scale, but when I saw this one reviewed, I decided to try it. It is very easy to use, can be switched between imperial and metric measurements. The on/off button also doubles as a "tare" button - it zeros out the weight of the container so you can only weigh the ingredients as you add them. I also like the fact that you can pull out the display so that you can read it when weighing with oversized containers. Finally, it's small enough that I can tuck it behind anything on the countertop so it's out of the way and invisible. I am a long-time fan of OXO products - they are well designed and easy to use and this one meets all expectations.

Precise and Practical – A Kitchen Must-Have!
I recently upgraded to the OXO Good Grips 5-lb Food Scale with Pull-Out Display, and it’s made a huge difference in my cooking and baking. Here’s why this scale has become an essential tool in my kitchen: Convenient Design Pull-Out Display: The pull-out display is a game-changer! No more struggling to read the measurements when using large bowls or plates. It makes the whole process so much easier. Compact and Sleek: The scale is compact and doesn’t take up much counter space. It’s also lightweight, making it easy to move around or store. Accurate Measurements I’ve used this scale for everything from baking to portioning out meals, and it’s consistently accurate. It’s a great tool for keeping my recipes precise and my portions controlled. Easy to Clean The flat surface is super easy to wipe down, so I don’t have to worry about crumbs or spills causing a mess. Comparison Compared to my old Etekcity scale, the OXO Good Grips scale has a much more user-friendly design. The pull-out display and ease of cleaning set it apart, making it a better choice for everyday use. Conclusion If you’re in the market for a reliable and convenient kitchen scale, the OXO Good Grips 5-lb Food Scale is a fantastic choice. It’s accurate, easy to use, and the pull-out display is a standout feature. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their kitchen tools!

Nice Scale
I bought this to keep tabs on the amount of filament I have on a spool. It works great for that. It seems to be accurate enough. Just weigh a similar empty spool, or use the tare feature. As far as I can tell, it seems to be accurate enough. If I weigh the complete print and weigh it it’s within 3or 4 grams of the expected weight, at least for my typical print in the 110 gram range. It is highly repeatable within 1 or 2 grams in that range. I’m happy with this product.

Reasonably accurate food scale
Super basic, grams or ounces. Tested it on a US quarter and weight was super close. Nothing complicated here - On and off, zero out so you can place plate on scale first, zero it out, then add food. You CAN manually shut off to save batteries - press and hold the power button. Basically power button turns it on, zeros out the scale, and can shut it off. Also easy to pull out the monitor if what you're weighing overhangs too far. So far I like it!! I can't comment on how long battery life is. Will update after over used for awhile.

Timeout With Good Behavior
I have been searching for a long time to find a scale that does NOT have an irritating, short timeout. Finally, after 2 weeks with this OXO 5lb. Food scale I think I've found one. Here's how it works. After 5 minutes of inactivity the illuminated display goes dim. But it still recalls the weight of whatever is on it for another 10 minutes. Tap the weighed item with your finger and the display lights up instantly with perfect memory of your weighed item, and the entire timeout sequence restarts anew. If you leave it unused for more than 15 minutes the scales shuts down and the memory of the weighed item is lost - it will read Zero if you turn it on again. If you have good lighting, and good eyes, you can actually read the scale during the last 10 minutes of the timeout. It's very dim, but you can see the digits if you look closely. There is a feature that keeps the scale on forever (or a bug depending on how you feel about this). If you zero out an item on the scale (say your steel mixing bowl) and remove it, the scale will naturally read a negative amount. What's interesting is that as long as it's reading a negative amount it never turns itself off (well, I waited over 30 minutes and didn't turn off, so I am making an assumption here). I think the idea is that the scale knows it is in use, and waits patiently for you to return with your bowl and get back to work. I love this feature, but from reading other reviews it's clear others do not. Another nice thing - the display lights up - this is better than simple backlighting as each segment of each digit glows. The scale is accurate to 1 gram (perfectly matched out existing scale during my testing). This scale is cheaper than another OXO model that has a stainless steel rather than plastic weighing tray. We have loads of stainless steel in our kitchen at the moment and I am perfectly content with the all plastic design. Of course if you need 10 lb. capacity, rather than 5 lb. then you will want the stainless steel model. For those among us that are capable of manually turning off appliances this may be one of the best 5 lb. scales on the market.

Compact and accurate. Love the fact that the faceplate can pull out if you have a bigger vessel on the scale. Feels quality. Once again, can't go wrong with OXO.
