(DVD)no text.]]> .com Charlie and Lola is a delightful animated BBC series based on the Charlie and Lola books by Lauren Child. Change, making decisions, and learning new things are a challenging part of growing up, and young Lola finds each of them exceedingly difficult. Luckily, Lola's big brother Charlie, who's oh so fond of his little sister, has a knack for combining imagination and compassion in order to help her solve just about any problem. Lola and Charlie are both really excited about the big Halloween party at school in "What Can I Wear for Halloween," but Lola just can't decide what sort of costume she should wear. When their friend Morton accidentally squashes the huge pumpkin they were planning to take to school, Lola finds herself with two big problems. Perhaps Charlie and Lola can use their imaginations to solve both problems at once. Change is unsettling, whether it's a change in routine, the seasons, or a family tradition, and Lola absolutely does not like change. In "Everything Is Different and Not the Same," Charlie helps Lola get over the difficulties that come with autumn, while Lola does some brainstorming of her own to deal with her discomfort at her very first sleepover in "I Slightly Want to Go Home." A family tradition is threatened in "But We Always Do It Like This," but Charlie and Lola soon discover that sometimes a change in tradition leads to an even better tradition. In "Do Not Ever Never Let Go," Lola loves her tricycle and never wants to graduate to a bicycle--at least until her best friend Lotta shows up with a new bike. Lola soon discovers that trying new things can be both fun and frustrating, and that perseverance pays off. Helpfulness is the attribute of the day in "I Am Goody the Good" and "I Am Going to Save a Panda," but sometimes effectively helping others takes some real creativity. Lola has a hard time doing what she knows is right when she finds a lost toy that she really wants to keep in "I Would Like to Actually Keep It," and she has an even harder time deciding on the right course of action when Lotta gives her a special present that Lola really doesn't like in "But I Don't Really Like This Present." This volume of the Charlie and Lola series offers great messages about imagination, cooperation, and familial love and will absolutely captivate children ages 2 to 8. --Tami Horiuchi

*Wonderful* Children's Show!
The CHARLIE AND LOLA #9: WHAT CAN I WEAR FOR HALLOWEEN? is a nearly two-hour DVD with 9 different episodes. There's actually only one episode that has a Halloween theme, but the others are fun to watch.The show focuses on a British boy and his younger sister--named Charlie and Lola--and their friends. Each cartoon teaches kids about sharing and how to deal with disappointments by looking at problems in a different way.Although the animation is relatively simple, the mixed media used to create the graphics is very clever and leads to interesting visuals.The voice actors are wonderful as the characters "Charlie" and his younger sister "Lola," and their friends "Marv" and "Lotta," along with other kids either at school or in the neighborhood.The DVD menus are interactive and you can choose either "play-all" or "episode selection."Nice treat for kids, and adults who enjoy cartoons.

A good value and a good show
My 3 year-old loves the stories of Charlie and Lola. The programs are in short segments (11 minutes each), and they always feature the interplay between the older boy, Charlie, and his little sister, Lola. It is a nice spin on childrens' TV to see a show where the feelings of other children and the guidance of an older sibling are used as devices to demonstrate appropriate behavior rather than the dcommands of parents and adults.This disk is simply presented with a case and one disc, but it contains a good number of stories, and they all played well in my DVD and Blu-Ray player.I recommend both the show and this disc very highly.

my kids love charlie and lola...ok, mama does too!
my three year daughter really enjoys charlie and lola books and currently owns vol. 1-3. I jumped at the chance when I saw vol.9 was a halloween dvd. she loves it and so do I! Even my one year twins boogie down when they hear the charlie and lola theme music. i also love the fact that lola is a wonderfully curious, boisterous and positive character. my three year old is and she can really relate!

Only one 1/2 hr not so halloween episode
Very cute show but if your looking for a halloween movie for kids I wouldn't suggest this. There is one half hour of a not that halloween-ish episode. The rest of the episodes are regular (not holiday) episodes. My daughter loves the show but I was disappointed there wasn't more of a halloween theme :(

Love Charlie and Lola
My son is going to love when he sees this. He is HUGE fan of Charlie and Lola. It is one of his Christmas presents I can't wait to see his face when he sees it.

i love watching charlie and lola
I love when my children watch charlie and lola. It's a show that I don't cringe during or get sick of after 2 episodes. Only two episodes on this have to do with halloween/fall. But they're all fun and it got its full use around Halloween time.

Who doesn't like Charlie and Lola? A very cute show! Pleased w purchase and wouldn't think twice about purchasing again. For the price, and cuteness of it all, totally worth it. :)

Great for young kids.
My 2 year old loves it. The little British accents are so cute. Great to help introduce Halloween to little ones.

Not all Halloween
There are several cartoons on the DVD. Only the first one deals with Halloween. The rest deal with various topics.This is an American DVD, so you'll need a DVD player that plays American ones. However, Charley and Lola speak British English, and their voices are so cute!

Disappointed with this as had all the same titles as one already had.Waste of my money
