I purchased two flavors (Chicken/Liver and Salmon), because I read about the brand on All About Cats. Only 1 out of my 3 cats will touch the stuff. I have a cat who will eat almost anything, including vegetables (carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, etc), and even he won't touch Hound & Gatos. I don't blame them. The food has an off putting smell and color, but the texture is the worst part. It's finely ground meat swimming in a large amount of water. It literally (yes, literally) looks like partially digested kibble that's been thrown up.As an insult to injury, the cans are extremely flimsy and the cartons they come in are unprotected during shipping. A large number of the cans are so dented, that you can't even stack them. In one pack 25% of the cans were dented and in the other pack over 50% of the cans were dented. One can looked like it had been stomped on.I gave the product a 1 star rating, because Amazon doesn't have negative stars.There are domestic-produced and foreign-produced Hound & Gatos. The products I purchased have the gold lid and were produced in the US.

Tldr: my cat is a picky eater with a sensitive tummy, but he absolutely loves this recipe, and it is really gentle on his bodyMy cats has had issues hold down his food (poor guy) since i got him last year as a 6 mo kitten. A couple months ago it reached a point where i knew i needed to make a change in his diet with the way he was regurgitating multiple times a week. A mix of dry and wet food has always been the easiest on my budget but after trial and error (portioning out dry food, making it wet, a bland diet) i realized he just isnt properly CHEWING the dry food and we needed to switch to a wet food.I found hounds and gatos on the blog allaboutcats where they do detailed ratings on different cat foods. Not only was i really excited with how affordable this brand is, but i was thrilled with the nutritional quality especially for cats with sensitive tummies!! Although i was scared about the flavor as i had read many reviews explaining how different cats wouldnt touch the food because of the flavor.As i stated in the summary above, we tranistioned him to this as his main food and he adores it. It makes me really happy to be able to give him food he loves and food that is good for him. I cant say enough how awesome this brand is for its price. Wet food is expensive regardless, but this price point is comparable to iams or other poorly rated cat food's but like i said has amazing quality - BRAVO!!

Been feeding this brand for a while now with great success for my cats' overall health. Some H&G other flavors were initially liked, but then rejected. This flavor is constantly accepted, so it is my go to and I try to rotate other flavors once in a while and Gamebird is a good one to keep on rotation but the last case I bought of Gamebird was very thick whereas this chicken flavor is super soupy and runny. I can mix the two for a "normal" consistency. Chicken isn't always this soupy so I am not sure if the supply chain issues caused more water to be added or what.

Not really sure how to rate just yet as we've only used it twice. The smell is atrocious compared to other wet foods. Considering it is a mixture of "gamebirds", I can see that. My cats don't appear to be too thrilled with it. We serve it with their regular kibble for some crunch. They eat the kibble and leave the wet. 🤦‍♀️ I hope this resolves after some time. I really had high hopes since we were switching from Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein (which they love) to save a little $.

My cat loves it! Great quality—nothing like the watery texture some reviewers mentioned.

1) I didn't know that Turkey Liver was a pate - could have been a bad surprise (the image showed liquid and chunky form)2) But it was an instant hit! My cat could be picky, but he jumped on it as if I gave him a treat!3) it looks and smells good: i.e. like a food! like something a human could consume, after cooking of course. (don't read it wrong, it's a strong smell and some people may dislike it, but it smells like food and not chemicals or unnatural smells like some cheaper cat foods - which is a sign of quality to me).4) pristine packaging and delivery - zero damage

I love the ingredient list on the Hound and Gatos canned cat food. It's usually worth the extra cost. My cats have sensitive GI tracts and are prone to IBD, which thickeners have been known to cause. Novel proteins, great ingredient list. What's not to like?Quality control problems, that's what. I fed this to my kittens and three of them nearly died from watery diarrhea, which is still ongoing in two of them. I took them to the vet for a full diarrhea panel. It's acting like salmonella but much worse. (I've dealt with salmonella before with my cat and my son in two separate incidents, laboratory confirmed salmonella.)I'm so disappointed in the company's quality control. This is a unique canned cat food. Such a shame really.
