It works!
I was persuaded to buy a whetstone after watching a professional chef discuss & demonstrate sharpening techniques. The fact that I recently sliced my finger when trying to cut an onion with a tougher skin than I was expecting, using a knife not as sharp as it used to be, might also have had something to do with my decision! This stone & kit look identical to the one I saw being used but is less expensive. I've used it to sharpen my two most-used knives and it's worked a treat. I probably could have got them even sharper but until I really get the hang of it, I'd prefer to sharpen little & often. I used the guide only very briefly to get a feel for the angle, and then found it easier without. I highly recommend that anyone thinking of buying a whetstone without any previous experience of using one should look at a good video demonstration: I watched on on the Epicurious youtube channel.

Does the job
Some people complain that the cheaper stones wear out too quickly. True it does wear, but I have successfully sharpened all my scissors and knives and it still has plenty of life left in it.

Well constructed, seems good quality, well packed and clear instruction on use.

This works
This is a good whetstone and does the job, as expected. All of the things that come with it, the blade guide, the holder, and the cleaning stone, are nice but not crucial to the use of the stone. Soak it, as suggested, use the guide a couple of times to get the feel for the angle and then I thought I was better without it. Too big for use on smaller blades anyway. I have even sharpened my Swiss Army Knife, small and larger blades and the are great now.

Good quality, does the job!
A good quality nicely made whetstone which works well. I followed the instructions and soaked the stone in water before use then used the angle guide to hold the knives. The edge is quickly made on the 1000 grit side before a quick hone on the 6000 side. The knives now perform better than new. The silicone holder and bamboo base are both good looking and functional.

It takes forever
The stone looks fine. But it took me forever to get anything sharp. I’m using it for chisels and plane blades. In the end I went back to and old diamond stone.

Careful it's sharp
Like most of us, I didn't know how to correctly sharpen a knife. Thanks to super small and super clear instructions. With that plastic bit what you put on the knife to get the proper angle, it is extremely easy. Got new set of knives not long ago and one of the knives got unsharp. It was exciting and easy to use. Just use water 🤷♂️

Seems to be doing a good job,
I've never used a proper stone for sharpening before, but this seems to be doing a really good job on my knives. the Guide has been really good for learning. Takes practice to get a really sharp blade.
