Good Clock (Once You Figure Out How to Use It)
I bought this clock over a year ago. I wanted to use it for awhile before writing a review. The other reviews are spot on about how difficult this clock is to set up. As alarm clocks go, this shouldn't be rocket science to set the time and the alarm. It took me a few attempts to set the time and the alarm correctly. I got so frustrated that I had to walk away from the clock a few times and come back to it. The instructions are really poor. I eventually figured out how set the time, the alarm, and the radio station. (I only saved one radio station on the clock because this is all I really needed, and, frankly, why complicate matters even more with trying to figure this feature out.) I tested the alarm clock several times and am glad that I did because I didn't have the clock set to AM initailly. I like how this clock can save two wake-up/alarm times. This is convenient for my standard wake-up time (I rarely need to change this time) and the other option for the alarm is the time that I change more frequently, as needed. This clock is extremely cheap looking in person. The pictures online make it look "fancier" than it is. All of this being said, I am happy to have an alarm clock (that I finally figured out how to use after a small training period) that works and will wake me up to music as opposed to a blaring alarm. This clock has both features and the "blaring alarm" isn't as annoying as other clocks, yet it serves its purpose. I really like how the music alarm turns on softly and increasingly gets louder. This is very effective at getting me out of bed in the mornings. There is no more of me saying "I will finish listening to this song and then get up". This usually resulted in me falling back to sleep (with my previous alarm clock). The music getting increasingly louder has worked every time for me to get out of bed. I don't want to listen to loud music first thing in the morning, even if I love the song. A few months ago, after a brief power outage, I realized that the radio station has to be reset every time the clock loses power. I never thought to do this and woke up one morning to static. Now I am aware that when I reset the time, I will also need to reset the radio station. If someone is looking to buy a new alarm clock that will show you the time clearly and will also have the alarm feature that can be set to a beeping sound or a radio station, consider giving this clock a try. It's not expensive and if you take the time to figure out how to use it, you may just be glad you bought the clock afterall. I know I am.

Broke after a week
Before I bought this alarm, I had been using a Philips alarm clock and it has lasted for the last 20 years. The only issue with the old alarm clock was that it only had one alarm. I wanted to upgrade to a clock with two different alarms. I went with the Philips model since my previous one has been quite reliable and I have been pleased with it. All that said, I would not recommend this alarm clock. Here are some issues that I have with it - The FM radio tunes in 0.1 MHz steps, even though all radio stations are separated by 0.2 MHz steps (in the US at least, and I am not sure about the rest of the world). Basically it takes forever to tune to your desired station. - Pressing down the tune button, rather than making the frequency tune faster performs a scan function, which will stop at a station that it receives. - The tactile feel of the buttons seems to finicky for someone who is just waking up from sleep - The snooze button will turn on the radio if not being used as a snooze. Given how big that button is, it is pretty easy to do this. - Radio presets and alarm times will not be remembered if the power is lost, unless the battery backup is installed. And ultimately, for my low review is that the alarm broke in about a week. The procedure to program the alarm is to hold down a cheap feeling 'bubble' button. After about a second, it will go to program the clock. This is also how you check to see what time the alarm is set for. And this same button is used to arm the alarm as well. When I was trying to verify the time for the alarm, it would not go into this program mode. Instead it would just cycle the alarm modes (off/radio/buzzer). What good is an alarm clock if you can't program the alarm?? So overall, really disappointed with this alarm clock and would not recommend.

Needs More Control Buttons
Multi-function buttons to control functions of any product save money for the manufacturer but they drive me nuts. The multi often doesn't function. Different area of particular buttons perform different functions but those functions aren't well separated meaning that one gets unwanted functions at unnecessary times. Were there more distinct buttons for individual functions setting those functions would be far easier. I found setting the time and tuning channels very frustrating because, following instructions, I often got into the wrong function (e. g. setting the time) when I wanted to set the channel and vice versa. Up and down buttons function well but individual buttons for time, tuning the radio and setting the alarm would make this very nice Philips Digital Alarm Clock much, much easier to use. Having criticized what I found troublesome, let me now praise the many positives of this clock radio. Digital tuning is precise. The wire antenna permanently attached to the unit is a big plus. In my area the FM spectrum in the 80 and 90 ranges is crowded. I set the tuner to my favorite station and got no bleed over from other signals. The clock keeps excellent time and the alarm, once, with difficulty, set goes off and overrides the radio as planned Since I shouldn't need to reset the functions for a bit my frustration with setting functions will wane leaving me with a very good alarm clock radio. Thank you, Philips!

dependable, accurate clock with a readable face that's bright enough and the sound is good for radio and alarm and battery backup for power outage is nice.

not impressed and would not buy again.
the clock display area is very small. sitting on a headboard you cannot see over a pillow. this is the worst radio I have ever had with any clock radio, all it pulls is static. Considered returning but don't have time to look for a new one or return due to work. Have to sit on a stack of 3 books to be able to see while laying down. Cannot use the radio. very disappointed, ordered because of the brand.
