Works Flawlessly
I previously bought another very popular brand's nut splitter. First use, the splitter wedge broke. I decided to spend a little more and give this one a try. It's performed flawlessly every time I've used it! It's also slightly lower profile and narrower (due to the semicircular design), so it fits better in tight locations. Very impressed!!

Heavy Duty
K tools are good quality for the money. I have used them for years. This nut breaker is one of the best as it does not impinge the bolt, just the nut. Actually breaks the nut at an angle to prevent bolt damage. This is heavy duty and made better than some as it originates out of Taiwan, not China. The metallurgy is quite a bit better than the Chinese stuff and will last. For the price you will be hard pressed to find a heavier duty nut splitter for the money.

Not a useful to.
It’s not good. The sharp end swivels too freely so that as you crank it tighter, any wiggle whatsoever leads to that piece turning, so instead of it slicing the nut in half it just grazes it. And that’s assuming you have a nut in a position this tool can even reach - you basically need a nut a goo 1/2” thick to grab it.

Good... But not QUITE good enough for my main reason for purchase
I'm torn because this definitely seems like a decently high quality tool, but unfortunately, it just didn't split the nut I needed it to split. I've never used a nut splitter before and I know I was asking a lot out of this one by trying to get a very strong nut in a very difficult location, so I feel it's only fair to judge it positively, but not perfectly. I specifically got this one instead of the cheaper ones because of its prowess in hard to reach locations (tested and confirmed!) and because its seeming higher quality. Well unlike other reviews of cheap splitters, the tool didn't break when I took several stabs at this one nut at several angles and it did in fact cut through it like butter multiple times, but because of the very difficult location, it couldn't cut all the way to the base of the nut to properly split it. I ended up using one of the partial splits created by this tool to drill the nut off. In the end, it definitely helped and I'd be pretty confident of its effectiveness for more easily accessible nuts. It's a little annoying that the bottom blade part is not perfectly sturdy, both vertically and rotationally, but at least it doesn't fall out - when you use it upside down or at an odd angle, you might just need to use one hand to steady it until the other hand tightens it enough to ensure it's not going anywhere.

It does what it's supposed to do, but it may not be enough for the really tough nuts to crack.
I had a situation where I needed to break a nut that was pretty much welded onto the bolt. I figured if I could just get it split (coming at it from the side) I could pull it off and replace the whole nut and bolt assembly. The wedge rotates so you can get it to split at whatever angle you need it to, though it's a little difficult sometimes to get it set up properly since it spins so freely. You have to kinda hold it in place while you manually turn the bottom threaded bolt until it gets a bite on whatever you're splitting. Well in my case, it didn't work out, but every time I set it to do the job, it basically chopped part of the thing off as expected. I just didn't expect the bolt to be 100% melted/welded up like it is. I'm sure on any other nut it would have cracked it in no time and the whole time using it would be like 10 minutes and I'd be done for a long while. Maybe I'll find another reason to use it, but I'm done with it for now. It still looks in good shape though.

Next time I’ll buy a closed jaw splitter
I don’t know if the tool I received didn’t get tightened at the factory or what. There is a small set screw that holds the cutting but in place. The first time I used the tool the set screw must have vibrated out while using the impact wrench. When I took the tool off the bolt the bit fell out and disappeared in the void. Now the tool is useless. I did try to arrange a return but I didn’t get it shipped back in time. That’s on me.

Great tool when you need it most.
This is a very useful tool. I’m restoring a 1961 Chris Craft 17-ft Runabout and I’ve used this tool several times on unmovable steel and bronze nuts. It’s worked every time. And the construction of the tool is high quality.

Works!
Used on an already mutilated sway bar link nut and on a rusty tie rod end castle nut that I had put back on temporarily and could no longer take off. Oops. Does help to stop tightening when contact with threads is made, as work hardening of threads causes nicks on the cutter.

I originally bought a cheap set of 4 nut splitters for less than half the price of this item. They did not work because the design meant that the blade couldn't get close enough to the surface that the nut was against, resulting in only half the height of the nut being contacted and eventually the splitter slipped off the edge of the nut before splitting it. The straight design of these also made it difficult to turn with the spanner because there was no clearance to the surface the nut was against. This more expensive item seemed to be good on paper being kinked, thereby avoiding the spanner issue and having a wider blade closer to the edge. The reality is different however, it too suffers with the same problem of not being able to get close enough to the surface the nut is against so it also slips off the nut before splitting it. Both the cheap items and this have to be held with a second spanner to avoiding twisting it off the nut whilst applying (very considerable) torque to the actuating nut making the operation unwieldy and difficult. I would not recommend this tool because it is not capable of carrying out its prime objective even on small nuts. Disappointing!

This is a great tool and works very well. Obviously getting access to use it will determine the situation where it can perform. It is a professional brand tool and I'm very happy with it

By the time you get it tight enough to get the nut off, it just slips.

Used to remove a 24 mm nut, stripped threads. The nut metal was soft enough that the splitter went into the axle threads, but I had to replace it anyway. The cutting wedge of the splitter was damaged some, if it were hardened a little more I would give this five stars. This job was max capability of the tool, and saved the job. I would buy the tool again, and I would buy a replacement splitter shaft in advance of the next use, if it were available.

Not great used a ratchet to crack some nuts loose and the chiseled splitter is already seeing wear almost not even useable. Needs to be made out of harder steel to last. I would not buy this again I will just spend the extra 200 and get some that last. It does split up to 15/16” might even do 1”. I am a HD mechanic and to me not worth it almost need spare chisel tips or even make my own that would be way stronger
