My Go-To for Reliable Portable Internet
This TP-Link 4G LTE MiFi has been a solid bit of kit for me, going from a stand-in for home broadband to a faithful companion on cabin getaways. It's handled everything from demanding marketing and IT work with four devices connected to just streaming music for a couple of phones, and it's kept pace admirably. Speed and battery life are key here, and whilst it's 4G, it delivers a perfectly decent connection for my day-to-day tasks. Battery-wise, I'm looking at around seven hours, which is pretty good for a full day out, and the fact I can use it while it's charging is a definite bonus. Setting it up with a Smarty SIM was a doddle, and it holds its own for signal strength right alongside my mobile phone. There haven't been any faffy issues, and it's proved to be good value. While I'm eyeing up a future 5G upgrade for that extra bit of oomph, this 4G MiFi has been a reliable workhorse and a fuss-free way for me to stay connected, whether I'm working from home or chilling off-grid. It's a sound choice if you need portable internet without any unnecessary complications.

Used with security cameras - but there is a problem.
I bought this item to provide a Wi-Fi signal to monitor a remote empty property with a couple of battery powered cameras. The area receives a 4G signal which works with the unit. I set up the TP-Link with a 6Gb SIM card and a permanently connected USB power supply. With the Wi-Fi range set "medium" I located the cameras within about 30 feet of the unit. The setup is working well after testing for a month although the 6Gb data allowance ran out after 15 days due to my frequent live viewing of the cameras. I recorded a speed of 2Mbs from the TP-Link which is lower than I expected but was enough to run the cameras. As yet, I haven't tried to improve the speed or test it further. I have not tested the TP-Link's battery life, so cannot comment on this. In summary, the TP-Link fulfils the purpose for which I purchased it and will no doubt be useful in other Wi-Fi lacking environments. Here is an update after several months use.........On three occasions now the WiFi has dropped out unexpectedly after working normally and continuously for about 3 weeks at a time. This means my security cameras are not accessible from my remote location. This is annoying and frustrating because to rectify the issue I need to manually switch the MiFi unit on /off to reconnect and get a WiFi signal back. It is a 265 mile round trip to do this! I followed advice on the TP-Link website and changed a setting from 3G/4G to 4G only, but this has not solved the issue. If anyone can advise me of another fix, that would be most welcome. Would another MiFi or 4G Router unit with remote access be a more suitable alternative? Please let me have your thoughts.

Good wee device
Bought this as a friend’s kid was in a hospital ward for several weeks where her mum and dad’s mobile network had a terrible 4G reception (so when she tried to play her online games on her tablet via their hotspot it didn’t work). We tried from my network when I was in visiting and it worked great so I got her a data SIM for my network and bought this device to put the SIM in (as opposed to her dad having to change his phone contact to my network). It worked really well. You just insert the sim and turn it on and then connect to it like you would your home WiFi (username and password are are provided). Meant she could play Roblox and other games which made the whole hospital experience a lot less stressful for her parents. Couldn’t comment on range, but certainly would well from up to 4 or 5 metres away no problem. Battery lasts well and can be powered from mains or a power bank. Really easy to set up and fits in the palm of your hand. Would recommend.

Not worth it
Not very good. The WIFI part is fine but the 4G receiver is not good at all. In fact it is worse than my old ZTE MF920U. The software works fine but the performance is so bad I can't see why I would use it. An annoying part is the poor SIM card cradle which will not shut properly. I had to put I piece of card over it so the battery pushed it down sufficiently to work! If you are really stuck for internet in your garden then it might be just OK but other than that do not waste your money.

Good for basic connection on the go
This device proved to be quite useful during a temporary period without Wi-Fi while I was in between moves. I initially purchased it to access the internet using a data-only SIM plan. Although I found myself using my cellular data on my iPad more frequently than the device itself, it did prove handy in specific situations. However, it seemed to require prominent placement near windows to function effectively, though I acknowledge this might be more a limitation of the data service provider rather than the device itself. The device itself is compact and stylish, easily fitting into a backpack for on-the-go use, and its battery life is reasonably good. It is excellent for providing a basic internet connection, but its capabilities beyond that are somewhat limited.

Broadband filler inner
Very easy to set up and an ideal solution that worked in between setting up broadband. Even though it doesn't have a daily use anymore I still use it for journeys on the train and I have taken it abroad as well to use WiFi in the room. It has a sleek and simple design to it. One button for use to turn power on and off. The range on this device is good and it could still be found and connected from upstairs to down. Definatley value for money as it continues to have a purpose.
