Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning [NSCA -National Strength & Conditioning Association] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning Review: A great science book that covers a little about a lot, not exactly for beginners - This book is very dense and I recommend that you purchase a few other things to accompany it first, one being "Science and Practice of Strength Training, Second Edition". That being said, I still very much like this book. Coming from a background as a college athlete at a major division I program, I was exposed to many of the practices mentioned in this text and can appreciate the acknowledgement of the mental side of performance. The authors attempt to spare no details in terms of they covered a lot about the big things in training, periodization, exercise selection and some basic biology. The one area that left me wanting more was the chapters on periodization. I would have like to see an example of different approaches, ex. more of a side by side comparison of the linear and nonlinear programming mentioned and why things in the individual programs might be less than optimal. There are however entire books about the subject so I can't complain! If you buy this book, you're more looking for science and being able to break down programs and learn what's working well in them. If you're looking for specific programs for your athletes or sample programs you might want to reconsider. I will say that after I've read through this a couple of times I am more able to recognize that many programs can be constructed very well and this book just lets you know a little more about which ones have more good things than the others. If you ever read another "fitness article" your bs meter will quickly be able to detect quality Review: Everything you need is in here! - I really enjoyed this textbook, the reason for my purchasing of this textbook was to help me study for my CSCS exam. The textbook comes with on online study forum that has a lot of videos, very similar to ones i saw on the test. Great study resource.

This is the real book.
Actually, I’ve already passed this cscs exam but I studied the book in Korean. Back then, there were tons of sentences and words most of which were hard to understand and irrelevant so that I decided to order this original book. Even I’m not around in English stuffs but I could handle this book in English and truly much better understanding this book than any book that is translated. In order to be more closed to the average of cut line more than 70 points on each section, I had to order the original one. As I’m Korean who had never studied in USA, it’s the way more easier than Korea version can you believe that? Hahaha Anyway thank you for Amazon.com.

I think you could find comparable or better demo's) explanations on YouTube from athleanX
As someone who has an exercise science degree I didn't think the online materials were significant. The labs maybe a bit, but there were very few videos in my opinion (10 or 13 maybe). To be worth it I really need some extra insight from an expert, with citations where applicable (as in the text)... I think you could find comparable or better demo's) explanations on YouTube from athleanX, Scott Herman, Jeff nippard and maybe even Scooby or a general search. Just didn't hold up to the text. I thought at first that a question bank may be included. But that's an extra nondescript fee and is for instructors so I don't know if you have to submit a university email or something. I do LOVE the text though; both concise and descriptive with intriguing research cited.

Significantly better than 3rd ed.
Finally, useful, quality information about sports nutrition, supplementation, and the impact of various vitamins and minerals on the body! This is the edition S&C professionals need, as it covers many of the gaps left behind by the 3rd edition's reliance on the USDA Food Pyramid and takes advantage of digital resources for exercise technique.

Spedizione puntuale e libro arrivato in condizioni perfette. Per quanto riguarda i contenuti, sapevo di fare centro con questo acquisto. Lo ritengo un "must have" per chi voglia avere delle solide basi per quanto riguarda l'allenamento con i pesi e il condizionamento. Nient'altro da aggiungere. 5 stelle meritatissime

Great book with some shortcomings (no musculoskeletal anatomy review - like major muscle groups and joints anatomy). Otherwise - a great read, I just passed my CSCS exam and it's mostly based on it. Videos are helpful too. Also, Cunningham formula is incorrect - check it online.

I paid £1250 for a Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Training Course (with an independent company), and I was really struggling to understand the course material, to the point of frustration. I purchased this book and everything is explained in such a great way that I can understand everything. I have learnt more about my course material from this book that from the actual course material! The book is fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is seeking to learn more!
