This was an awesome set to build. My brother buys a lot of Lego and bought me my first set (The Hogwarts Express) a few years back. Since then I've bought a couple more but this one is just special. Harry Potter is special for so many people so this Hedwig Lego set is a a really nice item to have on your shelf to display. I also love the fact that the wings move and it looks amazing when you do it. The build was really interesting and I love seeing the inside of these piece and marvel at how people come up with these creations. The base also looks great with the colours of red and gold to fit Harry's house - I'm also a gryff so this is perfect for me! I would love to do more builds like this one, the only thing I would say is the smaller pieces on the back can be quite tricky so if you're buying for someone young they may need a hand as there are quite a few.

Ok so I’m a Potterhead...there are a lot of us about and we love anything Harry Potter related. I’m loving the new Lego range and when Hedwig was released I just had to have it. It’s one of my favourites so far. It’s quite a technical built but as always the instructions are detailed and as long as you follow them it goes together well. There are Lego technic pieces in it which enables Hedwig to ‘fly’ once he’s built. You wind a handle and the wings move up and down but it’s really articulated so very effective. In my excitement I did make a mistake putting together the wing sections ( one drive wheel on back to front) and I had to take it apart again and rebuild this bit as he wouldn’t fly so be careful as this was a bit annoying. When it’s completed it looks fab. There are a lot of small pieces especially the feathers so be careful not to lose any. I would say that any child over 11 experienced in Lego would manage this on their own but I’m sure Mum or Dad would be happy to get involved. You do get a Harry and Hedwig mini figure too. It took me a couple of evenings so maybe 4 hrs to complete it but I did have my mishap which obviously delayed completion. This is a great addition to any Harry Potter collection or just for anyone who loves Lego. It’s more of a display piece than a play piece once it’s completed. Definitely worth the money and I love it.

Brilliant for Harry Potter and Lego fans. Bought when reduced so a really good bargain. Son was over the moon with it. Looks really good when completed. Usual Lego instructions clear and easy to use. Fast delivery and very well packaged.

Lego is expensive. I’m not sure why some sets seem to be more than others regardless of the complexity, amount of Lego, size etc etc. but this set I thought was a pretty decent price for something that appeared a complex build. It was for my 10 year old. He built it in a couple of hours and I have to say it is stunning. The wings go up and down (the crank goes anti clockwise- but maybe he built it wrong!) but it works. It’s a brilliantly crafted and designed Lego set. Highly recommended !

Bought it for my 8 year old Son for Christmas and he couldn't wait to get building it! There were a few complicated bits in the mechanism where he needed my help but mostly he nailed it. A fantastic and beautiful Lego kit.

This was bought for my child to complete the collection as he already had the phoenix and dragon, so now has all three. Looks great on display, challenging but fun to assemble and good value for money

Bought it for the wife. She loved it.

For such a big model this is great value, the price when I bought it was under £30. My son really enjoyed making it and it looks great. The wings don’t flap up and down unfortunately but think he may have built the mechanism wrongly and he didn’t want to take it apart to find out his error.
