This book not only gives great background information as to the Greek meaning behind the words, but also provides a meaningful devotional for each verse.

I love this study book. I first bought this book back in 2007 after Rick Renner spoke at our church. I have used it regularly all of these years as one of my study helps in my Bible studies, and in preparing lessons for my classes. I have found it to be very informative and interesting. I have learned much from this book. This book is set up as a devotional style, one lesson for each day of the year. The format of each lesson is that Rick takes a scripture (which is printed at the beginning of each lesson), and he explains what the full meaning of that scripture is by giving the original Greek words and their meanings. It is written in an easy to understand way, and is very interesting. It's not just a dry teaching of a bunch of Greek words and their meanings. He uses examples from his own life as well to get the message across. In the back of the book they give lists you can follow. There is a list of the Greek words studied with the English word in parentheses, along with the page number where that word is found, for if you want to do a Greek word study There is a list of the English words with the Greek word in parentheses to make it easier to find what you are looking for. There is also a list of scriptures that he uses in the studies along with their page numbers, for if you want to do a study on a particular scripture (this is generally how I use the book). I have given this book as gifts to several friends and pastors and teachers, and they have all loved this book. Although Rick Renner is very scholarly in his knowledge of the Greek language and of the Bible, this book is very easy to understand for the average person. I have read several of Rick's books and he has spoken at our church several times over the past years, and I have enjoyed each book. I especially like his book titled "Dressed to Kill", which is a study on the Armor of God. It also is very interesting and very informative. One thing you will discover when reading Rick's other books is that, because he is so knowledgeable about the Greek language of the Bible, is that he will explain the original Greek meanings of scriptures that he refers to in his books. I find this to be very helpful and interesting.

This is, by far, my favorite devotional. Each day provides you with biblical truth to apply to your daily life to draw you closer to God and strengthening your relationship with Jesus. Plus, it dives into daily word studies of the original Greek, which depends your understanding of His Word. Will definitely purchase volume 2!

Written in 2003, still relevant from the moment I got it. Written understandably and the clear understanding of Greek word meanings seriously help putting scripture in context not only for glimpsing what biblical life was like, but also knowing how to apply its lessons practically today.

There are a number of good devotionals on the market but this one is by far the best I have ever read. It is so informative with history and the Greek to better understand the scriptures. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get a deeper understanding of God's Word.

I have read the “One Year Bible” for years for my personal devotions and quite time. Even with a Full-Time ministers schedule this can be a lot to read each day. Heaven forbid you miss a day then you have up to 10 chapters to read. I digress… Another words just because I was reading a lot of scripture a day doesn’t mean I was getting quality time with God. So I switched up with Rick’s book “Sparkling Gems from the Greek.” This Devo book is good read with a daily prayer and a confession. It is meat each day and it is great to tap into the GK without feeling overwhelmed. It’s a must… $10 kindle purchase?? No brianer

I’ve been reading this book for almost a whole year with just a few more days left, the the authors’ use of original Greek meaning really takes you deeper and why specific work is used the intention and purpose really is to anchor faith solidly onto Jesus in all life’s circumstances. I enjoy this year taking time to dig deeper into bible passage by passage. Thank you Rick Renner, God bless you and bless those who really do read this book from beginning to the end!
