Watching it again as an adult, I can tell you that it is still very wonderful. Full of good ethics and good emotion. An angel impersonates a flesh-and-blood man so that he may enjoy the physical pleasures of life, such as dancing at a bar. Review: WISH I HAD LOOKED FOR WIDESCREEN - Beautiful movie that can make you weep more than once, but can make you laugh, more than once and has a happy ending. Grateful for the happy ending. After a very long crying spell it is good to have things end up more hopeful. This movie should be good for even non-believers as it touches on many human aspects. It has everything for someone sentimental and possible to touch the hearts of those not into sentiment as a rule. Life lessons. The female with 3 bad marriages made me cry with her song "sitting by the side of the road" (?) I believe was the title. I tried to find it in mp3 or see if it was listed in the sound track but did not find it. I love that song so very much. All of her songs were beautiful including the "Pie" song. Just too cute. It shows you can strike out 3 times through no fault of your own except that you need to say "no" to love if there are warning flags. It did not say she had any flags but by my own experiences, I feel she probably did but let her emotions rule her rather than caution. Gotta love a romantic though. The music was great in the movie even when not her singing. Just a wonderful movie. Not appropriate for children as the content had adult subject matter. (I am old fashioned so do not believe sleeping with someone to be appropriate for children but those are my views) I do not know how these movies are rated in this day and age. I have always loved this movie and had it on VHS. I assumed it was widescreen but did not view it until last night for the first time 6-21-14. Was disappointed it was not widescreen. Will query desertcart if too late to exchange for a widescreen version. Hope you buy it and enjoy!

This movie is entertaining. It's not Travolta's best work, but still a different and enjoyable Drama comedy.

William Hurt, Robert Pastorelli are reporters for a lurid newspaper run by Bob Hoskins, Andie MacDowell a dog trainer is also hired. They are sent to rural America after a letter is sent to the newspaper about an angel in a motel, they are sent out to search the story along with a dog. They find Jean Stapleton running a motel and an angel is there staying, played with humor by John Travolta, he comes down in underwear with wings on his back. Stapleton dies and they return to Chicago by car with Travolta and promise not to take any pictures of him. There is a terrific sequence in a bar, Travolta finds females attracted to him and dances with them to Aretha Franklin's Chain of Fools. After a bar fight with jealous males they find themselves in jail. MacDowell and Hurt fall in love, Travolta is dying and has little time to live and dies when they reach Chicago. MacDowell and Hurt leave the newspaper and Hoskins is attacked by the dog. Great cast, excellent movie with Hurt and MacDowell, highly recommended and Travolta is excellent in his role as Michael the angel.
