Iwatani ZA-3HP Butane Stove

First I have to tell you that I spent several hours on different days to choose the stove that suited my requirements, I was not looking for something cheap, but of course I wanted to get the best quality i could get for my money. My first requirement was that I wanted a stove made of durable material, because all I saw online and in stores looked so weak and they would not resist so long. This stove looks quite sturdy and consistent. My second requirement was a quality burner, almost all stoves are defective and they happen to give uneven flame. When testing this stove the flame was perfectly symmetrical and abundant. My last requirement was the compartiment where it is placed the canister, it is important that the canister receives controlled heat, otherwise the canister get cool and the flame decreases to almost nothing. This stove comes with a aluminum flap that heat slightly the canister allowing gas flow constant. The stove also comes with a case, it is not very durable but it will resist if you use it kindly. One thing to consider is the brand of this stove, I wanted to compare prices at stores that sell Iwatani but I couldn't find the model. However, all models offered were above $100 and I assure you that this stove had everything they have. I still have to try cooking something, I go camping soon, I will make an update of this review with more information. July 11th: Review of my review I went camping, this stove still has 5 stars! excellent product I am in love with it. I had no issues, this stove has a great flame, I cooked pasta and water boiled in 2 minutes!! 100% recommended.

I love this little guy. I work construction and I bring this with me to make lunch for me and my co workers after we got very tired of the same old same old cold sandwiches. Right now I’m only making things like grilled cheese but look forward to trying out things like burger and even steaks eventually!!! As for the more technical parts of this piece of equipment. It starts very easily you turn the dial all the way until you hear a click and if you have your butane canister installed properly it should light up. Something I like a lot about this device is it a has switch that will lock the butane canister in place when turned on and remove the canister when turned off. Probably my favorite part about this device is that it gets extremely hot which is great for things like searing a piece of meat and obviously boiling water. It also comes with a carrying case it feels kind of cheap but gets the job done. Overall great piece of equipment it also has special attachments you can purchase like a grill cover for things like Korean barbecue and yakiniku. It even has a takoyaki cover you can also buy. None of this comes with it but it is worth knowing I think.

We wanted to get a portable/emergency stove and after a lot of research I bought this along with a bunch of butane cans. This worked right away after installing a canister and we did use it during a power outage and it was super handy and did a great job heating up and making food in frying pans and boiling soup. I like the quality and design of the product and it comes with a very nice hard carrying case for convenient storage. We've used it a few times now and are still on the first canister of butane so it appears very efficient. It gets plenty hot too so you can cook pretty much anything.

This little burner is a godsend, especially in an all electric home kitchen. I bought it specifically for wok cooking, but I find myself using it all the time! I have very little experience in cooking with gas, but, from what I remember, this little thing gets HOT compared to a similarly sized NG burner. I'm assuming that maybe butane burns hotter than NG? Either way, don't let the price and portability of this fool you into thinking it's underpowered. This little thing cranks out the BTU's! It fires up on the first click of piezo starter every time. The only issues I've ever had with this burner were when I forgot it outside overnight and, of course, it rained. It took a few hours for the water to evaporate out of the gas passages in the burner, but after that it was back to normal operation. The only gripes I could conjure up against it are things I am conflicted about. The things that make it extremely portable (i.e. small size and light weight) also give me the most grief when using it. It really likes to slide around on my glass cooktop, so any time I pick up a pan to toss food, stir one handed, or bump a pan handle it willingly moves around. Not the biggest of problems, but annoying none the less. The other complaint I have is probably an issue for just about any gas burner. Using outside proves difficult if there's more than a slight breeze (assuming you don't go the trouble to shield it in any way). Wind blows the flame around and heating become erratic and uneven. Those caveats aside, I absolutely love this little portable gas burner and would highly recommend it, especially to anyone with an electric cooktop!

It works as described. The flame can be very powerful, meaning you can heat up food quickly. What's great is that the flame remains consistent till the end and the butane fuel can is emptied. In the past, with the weaker butane burners, I had to continue burning even after all food is finished and pot removed till I have expelled all the gas from the canister for proper safe disposal.
