Great, but other size options would be nice
(Maybe they're new since I bought, but I now see there are other sizes available.) I used this to reupholster 6 beat-up Ikea chairs that I got for free (roughly, top: 17", bottom: 13.5, depth: 15.25; 44/35/39 cm). If you measure carefully and layout efficiently, you can cut 4 chair covers in single pieces. The remaining two you can create by gluing together pieces of the leftovers. The 2" thickness of high density, 44 pound-rated, foam is great for firm but comfortable dining chairs. I can't speak to durability, though others have. My only gripe is that this is only available (on Amazon) in 2x24x72. It's possible to do 6 chairs with this size, but there was very little room for mistakes. It would be nice to have wider and/or longer options for a project like this, without having to buy 2 full pieces. To glue, spray each edge that you want to attach with 3M Super 77 adhesive. (Do it outside - it gets all over the place.) I made 3 or 4 sweeps, a few seconds each; you want the edge moistened, but not soaked. Wait 15 seconds. Line up the ends and push together. Alignment doesn't have to be perfect, but if you miss by a lot, you have a few seconds to pull apart and try again. Wait 30 seconds, until they stick together when suspended by one of the pieces. Give it a good smoosh so that there's contact along the whole length of the edge. Let the glue set for at least 30 minutes before using the glued piece on furniture. Works great. Even if you try not to spray yourself or touch any of the wet glue edges, you'll probably need some acetone to clean up your hands. To cut, the pros use specialty foam cutters. I tried their recommendation to substitute with reciprocating meat knives. It works but not well. I discovered it's much easier and more accurate to use a cheap utility knife with a sharp blade. Mark your lines with a Sharpie. Score the line with the knife using light/medium pressure - just a little into the surface, not all the way. Once scored, make 3 or 4 more slightly harder passes with the knife held vertically, separating along the score line with the fingers of your other hand. You'll get a line that's as true as your score line and reasonably clean - certainly good enough for spray gluing edges. I needed about 2 yards of fabric, which I got from a remainders pile for $20. A can of spray paint for the wood, and I have 6 decent dining chairs - much plusher, softer, and more attractive than the original Ikeas - for about $10 each.

A firm foam perfect for reupholstering dining chairs
I recently acquired some chairs for my dining table and boy did they need some help. They were sad, uncomfortable chairs! I did a lot of research on different foams and what type is the best type for dining room chairs that will receive moderate to heavy use, and settled on this one. I knew I wanted a high density foam because it lasts longer, and I wanted firm so that over time when it softens up, it wouldn't become too soft. The price compared to similar foam was much better, and cheaper than even lesser quality foam from local craft stores. The foam arrived in a roll, wrapped in Saran Wrap type wrapping, and I unrolled it immediately so it would have time to "breathe" and become more flat so I could more easily work with it, which took about 2 days but I'm sure you could work with t sooner. I used a serrated bread knife and it cut the shapes out easily. I was a little worried because one of the previous reviews said this was soft, but mine is quite firm. We eat dinner at the table nightly, and the chairs are much more comfortable now. It does sink a little when you sit in it, but it's kind of in the way a memory foam mattress does. Nothing extreme. I am a big fan so far and hopefully it holds up as well as claimed. I will update this post a year from now with how they are holding up. I enclosed a picture of the before and after so you can have an idea of how thick or thin you are wanting your foam. 2 inches is perfect for our needs. *Update* feb 2017 The foam is still holding up really well and we eat dinner at the table 5-7 nights a week and do crafts with my tots during the day. It's still firm, not sagging or lumpy and the chairs look the same as the day I refinished them. Very happy with my purchase still and definitely keeping the rating 5 stars!

For a Firm Lasting Foam This Works Great For Benches and Seating
I purchased this foam to build a bed for camping. I was not sure what thickness to order so I went with the 6" because I thought it would be the most comfortable. This foam is a very firm foam so it was not as comfy as I hoped for. The 6" thick piece is too thick for comfort in my opinion. I ended up cutting it right in half for two 3" thick pieces and that is much more confortable for us. I think for a bed situation like for camping a 4" thick piece would have worked the best. Now I have an extra 6" piece that I am able to use in the studio to absorb sound. That was an expensive mistake to make and I think I learned my lesson. All in all at the end of the day, this foam is super easy to work with and is of good quality.

Excellent choice for replacement of dining room chair seat cushions
I was looking for just the right foam to replace my dining room seat cushions and fabric. . I have 6 large oak chairs in my dining room. The chairs needed to have the seat cushions and fabric replaced. Over the years the old cushions had flattened considerably and the boards that hold the seats to the chair had deteriorated. I looked at having a "professional" do the job but it was so costly I decided I would do it myself. I measured the seats and purchased wood at the local home improvement center. Used the old wood to make a stencil and cut each to size. Was debating whether to use 2" or 3" foam. I wanted the seat firm. The cost of purchasing pre-made foam pieces was also crazy. I purchased the 2" foam here at Amazon. Used the cut wood pieces as a stencil and cut the foam using an electric knife (very important to have one to cut foam). The rest was easy. Cut material from a pattern I had made using an old piece of sheet. Laid down the material, good side down, and added some batting material to cover the seat as well as the sides of foam and wood. Stapled tightly in place. The results were amazing. Better than a professional and minus the cost. Great products here on Amazon. I even purchased the staple gun here as well as the batting. The material was purchased at craft store.

This product is fantastic! My 5 year old sofa looks and feels brand new. I used a 10” fillet knife to slice approx 3-4 inches off, wrapped in batting to smooth the edges (within the slipcover). If you have a firm mattress, this feels the same. I will definitely buy this foam again but I have a feeling it might be 6-7 years before I need to! Note: some posts say there was a horrible smell - mine had none.

It took 2 weeks to arrive, but it was worth it. I used utility knife and within 60 minutes my couch looked and feels like new. Highly recommended

Bought this for my wife’s side of the bed that the mattress is failing there and only there, modern crap mattress. Anyways she loves it a lot, it’s firm and super comfortable. Way better than those cheap things you buy at home hardware, Canadian tire or Walmart. I think we’ll order the 1 inch thick stuff to redo our old kitchen chairs too.

Bought this for my 5 year old when he went through a phase of sleeping in his closet (because it had cool string lights and wall decals in it). I layered a thing yet fluffy blanket on top of it and it did the trick, my son had no complaints.
