Heavy but gets the job done.
I have multiple DeWalt 20v cordless tool and batteries and have for the most part been very happy with them, so I decided to but their pole saw when I needed one. It is simple to assemble and operate, and with the center pole attachment has good reach. It has also had surprisingly good power and cutting ability. I used it to take down most of the dead Hawthorne tree beside my driveway with no problem on the dead dry wood. Soon after I found one of my neighbors trees had grown over to the point it was damaging my roof and being careful(and experienced) I was able to trim it back off the house to a point it will take a long to be a problem again. After both those projects and others the 5Ah battery still had plenty of charge. There is a downside though, first when the saw is fully assembled the pole is fairly wobbly, but I have read that is common with electric pole saws. The other less than ideal thing with this saw is the weight. I have developed serious health issues this year, and they have left me very weak, with a loss of 60 % of my diaphragm usage and therefore 60% of my lung capacity, and partial paralysis in both arms so the weight is a serious issue, but by pre-planning and improvising supports I have been able to use it fine, and it does work well. The batteries last surprisingly long, and if you have the chain spinning before contacting the wood to be cut, it never bogs down or stalls...at least that is how mine is.

This pole saw works too well, wound up with a huge problem.
We used to try trimming tree branches with a manual pole saw, but it takes so long to cut through a limb that you’re worn out after just a couple of branches. I thought this Dewalt 20v pole saw would be the answer. Out of the box it took literally a minute or two to be ready, I used a 5.0ah Dewalt battery, and figured that should be good for 15 minutes of cutting, so off I went. After 15 minutes, I had a huge pile of branches to deal with! Way more than I thought I’d wind up with in a short period of time! This saw is way too efficient, and it actually makes trimming branches fun. No change in battery charge after cutting for 15 minutes, still showed 3 lights. Today we did a major clearing of branches, and spent a couple of hours. And once again, wound up with another huge pile of branches that needed to be reduced and burned! The cutting with this saw is the easy part, the tough part is how many branches you can cut in a short period of time. After two hours of cutting the 5.0ah battery still showed 2 lights. Great pole saw, I wonder if it’s possible to buy another extension sections so I can reach some higher branches…hmmmm……

Top Quality Pole Saw
I was absolutely stunned by how good this pole saw works, it quite literally keeps up with my Stihl MS251. The 15 foot reach had the tree looking like it was professionally done. I used a heavier duty battery, so I’m not sure if that makes a big difference. Highly recommend, especially for the money!

Good tool
I am a DeWalt fan and have a dozen tools that use the same batteries - which is a good cost of the tools. This pole saw works well, just a few things I'd change; 1) Make the pole a little sturdier, when the extender is attached is wobbles a bit more then expected. 2) The shortest is something like 4 or 5 feet, so it is very difficult to trim small branches one you drop a good size limb from the tree....if the chain saw connected to a short (12 inch?) rod to the handle it would be so much better. 3) Higher cap or seal on the bar oil tank - I have to be sure not to lay it down or some oil drips out 4) Thankful the tool to remove the chain is on the sheath, but it does take time to realign the chain if it comes loose and jams, which can happen when your cutting and a branch twists on the bar during a cut. It does cut well and the battery life is good.

A Beast With the Right Battery
With the right battery, this thing is a beast! I just spent the last 3 hours using this pole saw to cut everything from high-up oak branches (using the extension) to cutting out thick stands of privet. I even bucked a large sycamore that I dropped last week and was still wet. Here are some honest observations... first, I would love to know which company made the chain for this pole saw! It cut a LOT of wood and stayed sharp! Big wood chips were still flying when I finished, and it did not stretch when it got hot like many big brand chains do. I did have to reset the chain because it jumped the bar channel after getting twisted by a falling branch, but it was very easy to do. Second, the wrench/flathead combo tool that comes with it is okay but get a flathead screwdriver with a long handle to adjust the tension screw. It's a real pain with the included tool. Last, using a Dewalt 8ah battery this thing rocked! After 2 solid hours of cutting I still had 2 bars left (out of 3). The saw never bogged down and powered through everything I cut including the sycamore (limbs and trunk that was 9" in diameter). Just to see how it would compare, I then used a Dewalt 5ah battery. It still got the work done but had 2 bars (out of 3) after just 30 minutes. It also seemed to bog down just a little cutting 2-3" thick privet and some Hackberry limbs. Overall, this tool saved me a lot of time and I was able to do a lot of trimming with plenty of power. I had a lot of privet and other brush to cut along the top of a creek bank and this let me get it done without falling into the creek! If you have to do more heavy-duty cutting definitely use an 8ah battery (6ah should be okay also). For lighter work use at least a 5ah.

très bien.

It works fine and cuts well. I'm not so sure about durability. But in the meantime, I take extra care to not use it to harshly.
