Just get it. It converts LXT to XGT with an adapter!
Lets start with one of the drawbacks: this battery doesnt doesn't charge batteries natively. That being said, to have it and use it, especially for battery powered yardwork, is a dream with the extended runtime. With an LXTx2 Miter saw you can park the battery pack without the backpack harness underneath or next to the saw and go for days with the 18v adapter and another battery. I have an XSL06 produced before this powerpack was introduced, and the included LXTx2 charger has an extended tab on one of the batteries which prevents it from being used in just any 36v tool, it has to be 36v tools produced after this came out. I've verified this with my XSH06 circular saw, which it works on. I was initially bummed about that, but the workaround with power pack in one slot and a battery in the other slot worked well enough, and in reality gave me 2.5x runtime as opposed to 2x runtime with the 4 batteries in the pack itself. With an XGT adapter (sold separately) you can get into the XGT line without worrying about batteries if you have tons of LXT batteries. And an 18v LXT adaptor (also sold separately) runs all your LXT tools, and the older 36v tools with a 5th battery!Although this was designed for Outdoor Power equipment like blowers, trimmers, and lawnmowers, the construction benefits are awesome as well, especially if dust extraction means you already have something hanging off the tool. Separat it from the backpack harness and park it under or on top of your table setup at the job.At this price ($269 at time of writing) its an absolute steal. For the cost of a tool you solve you're runtime issues, especially if you have loads of batteries and rapid chargers. This isn't really a homeowner/DIYer option as it's more suited for longhaul all day work, but at this price it might as well be.As with any plastic parts, be careful with the cord clips on the harness in the cold as they become brittle. I got overeager and snapped the shoulder clip when pushing the cord into it in subzero temperatures, but it's a cheap part thankfully.Everything being said, if you are heavily in the Makita battery line, and at this price, just get it.

Good backpack battery pack!
I always wanted a powerful battery powered blower and this in conjunction with the blower motor is amazing over 650cfm and light. During this season it is especially helpful as I have tendonitis in my elbow. The blower hangs of the backpack as well making it light and easy to handle. Very happy with the product. You will need batteries obviously, in my case I have a collection, spendy but worth the price.Dinesh

Works very well
Very comfortable and doubles run time while using the blower for leaf clean up.
