Sony 2K/4K UPSCALING 2D/3D Built-in WI-FI Region Free 0-8 and All Zone A,B,C BLURAY Player with Worldwide USE and Come with Free HDMI Cable

My old unit for zone B 3D discs was failing. Didn’t know if I’d find any units still available to replace it. Did research online and decided to go for this one even though $200 was a significant outlay. Glad I did! This one did great, worked fine right out of the box for zone B dvd, zone B blu ray, and zone B 3D blu ray. Switching region is very easy (see attached sheet) from the remote. Gives an excellent picture, particularly for 3D. Very satisfied!

Thank you Sony for a great product. This BluRay (DVD) player does away with the "Region" restriction nonsense -- that business the movie industry created which insures people will inevitably be sold a movie on a DVD or BluRay that is simply designed not to work, depending on where you happen to live. In short, Location Discrimination. This unit, on the other hand, will insure that ANY disc you buy will actually PLAY on it! This player works very nicely like most other disc players with the technical quality you'd expect from a Sony product, but with the distinct advantage that it circumvents the attempt to box consumers into the industry's blatant Location Discrimination. What is this "Location Discrimintation" you ask? Simple: I buy a movie on a disc that the studio is perfectly willing to sell to me and to take my money (KNOWING where I live, btw), and then that studio says, "sorry, you can't watch it because, well, we just don't like where you live...you're in an area that we say doesn't deserve to see the movie we just sold to you, sucker -- you live in the US. And btw, your friend who lives in England, HE can see it! We like him way better than you." How is that not inequality? Anyway, kudos for Sony for not putting that "inequality" chip in this player. Problem solved; this player won't let the studio who sold you that disc discriminate by where you live.

The all region feature works great and it plays Blu Rays fine and upscales Blu Rays to almost 4K quality. The only reason I note this is because some people think it is also a 4K player but it is not but your regular Blu Rays will look cool on this and the region feature is the only reason I got this so my needs are met.

So far this has been an awesome Blu-ray player! I bought this Blu-ray player because it supports 3D blu-rays and I believe they will eventually come back into style and popularity. Also, region free rocks!

It took a few minutes to set up. The biggest problem was having the machine communicate with our Wi-Fi, but we finally figured it out. We tried several blue ray disks from different regions and they all work. Thus far we are very pleased with this purchase. The player is reasonably priced. It may take us a little while to figure out all of the features since this is the first day of its use. It is a smaller machine, so it doesn't take up too much room. The audio is clear from the disks that we have tried.

The only thing I like about this product is it plays my 3d disc's. Cons: it's made very flimsy fells like if you accidently drop it or it gets hit at all it will break. The region control is very weird to adjust the region it says you have to open the tray and push the color buttons to change regions. It won't change the region just by inserting the disc so it is manually done with is confusing. All the apps are out dated and I don't see anyway to get recently released apps. It has Netflix ,Amazon, vudu and those are the only video streaming apps it has. Just like it says in other reviews it locks up at times and you have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to restart.

When it came time to replace our old blu ray this was a no brainer for me. Our old one still works but we’re having a few issues with it. Technology changes and so after 8 years I know it’s just a matter of time before it just gives out, it’s still in use in a bedroom. Now with the new one. It has been great. I definitely like the upscaling because it does make a difference. Just plug and play and was connected to our Wi-Fi in less than a minute. I’m just hoping that longevity isn’t lost with newer technology. I’m the type that doesn’t make quick decisions on this type of purchase and am very pleased with that I did.
