Mycological Dried Organic Maitake Mushrooms, 1 Ounce (Pack of 6)

These need rehydrating for few hours for best results. Once done the texture is wonderfully chewy. These are my first Maitake mushrooms and the recommendations were to cook them because raw they have a strong woody flavor but I rather like them raw as well as cooked. Suggestions for cooking were to pair with salty flavors and this works well as far as I am concerned. I sauteed them in garlicky soy sauce until dry then finished in a bit of sesame oil until trips were crisp and wow, savory and delicious!! It really works. Next I will try with berebere spice or curry. It might be a bit pricey for one package but they are hand picked in the forest so, totally worth it!!!

You need to simmer these dried mushrooms for at least 20 minutes but they are tasty. Good for broth, gravy, and soup. I am trying to eat whole plant foods and avoid artificial flavors. These come in handy because the flavor is good and they are easy to store. I will purchase them again.

Flavor was not good. After following cooking instructions still had a hard texture .. rubbery

This company nailed it...i love this and their other products.....great addition to soups...stews...stir fries....i put product in Kerr jar... with an oxygen absorber....and these guys stay flavorful...dried and Preserve them for even longer. I have recommended this Product to all six of my children and to my friends and other family members. You like mushrooms. This is the company to go with. I keep on hand "ALL" of the mushrooms they offer!
