Thinking about this knife? Go for it!
What can I say? It's a Spyderco. It came sharp, opens smooth, has decent weight to it and it's a small enough size for EDC but big enough to be impressive to others. This is my first Spyderco but not my first well-known brand pocket knife. My other go-to is a Benchmade Mini Griptilian which definitely gives this thing a run for it's money – especially when comparing price and features. One thing I don't really like about the Delica 4 is the back lock but that is more a personal opinion than a good reason to deduct a star. I knew fully what I was getting when I bought this knife as I had done much research on a lot of Spyderco knives prior to buying. The iconic thumb hole is a great assist to open the knife and any knife enthusiast can tell it's a Spyderco when you whip it out. I like how you can customize it fairly easily with new scales and deep pocket clips (check eBay if you're considering it). I would highly suggest a deep pocket clip as the butt of the knife sits up above the edge of your pocket when carrying – although it does stay in your pocket very well; stock clip has good tension. The all black design with the half and half blade is very rugged looking and fits my personal style. This is a great starting knife for someone looking to get into collecting knives. I am considering getting my girlfriend one to keep in her car because it's small enough that a woman could carry it comfortably (in the car, purse, etc.); might be too big for some ladies but hey if you ever need it for protection it'll do the job. The next installment I am looking to get is most likely the Paramilitary 2, which is a typical step up from the Delica 4, or just go balls to the wall and get the high profile Domino flipper. Either way, Spyderco has done a great job in their development of knives and it sure has sparked that need to advance my collection.

Outstanding blade quality - even better than the usual Spyderco excellence. VG10 Japanese steel. Lightweight at 71 grams
At first I was skeptical, as my Kershaw Leek was easy to deploy. But I had a collection of CRKT, Spyderco, and other knives - and the Spyderco blades (whether 8Cr13MoV or otherwise) were always the best. They always came out of the box razor sharp, kept their edges, and were easy to maintain. I decided to give the Delica 4 a try since the blade was under 3 inches and its advertised weight was very low. That is primarily due to the fiberglass reinforced nylon handle with thinner/reduced weight liners molded into the nylon. The material is very similar (if not the same) as the Dupont Zytel Nylon used for seat belt buckles, M4 stocks, Glock receivers, intake manifolds, and a large variety of common composites that are durable. The VG10 steel is made in Seki City Japan, and comes out of the box razor sharp. Feeling the edge with my fingernail, it is very very smooth. It glides through paper and the blade material even looks/feels different from common Chinese knives. The handle is bolted on, but this just allows you to customize how you want to clip it - which is a huge plus in my opinion. The price is a bit higher than the average everyday carry knife, but it is worth every penny. The Delica 4 weighs 71 grams. Kershaw Leek weighs 88 grams. Spyderco Ambitious G10 (2.25" blade) weighs 85 grams. So the Delica 4 is lighter than either of those knives, which are already fairly light and compact. Overall: 5/5 stars Spyderco hasn't failed me yet. I wish I knew about the Delica 4 sooner!

I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted
I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted, came razor sharp & it is extremely smooth with 1 handed opening. It is right at 3" though, which could be problematic in L.A., depending on the mood of the police officer. So after researching, I purchased the Spyderco Delica 4. It is a great knife, the blade is just under 3", but the handle has a little more real estate than others of this size. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. I deducted a star, because it is no where near as smooth to open out of the box as the RAT 2. It does have a lock back vs the liner lock on the RAT 2, and I'm hoping it will smooth out with use. It can be opened one handed, but it's just not smooth or fast at this point. I had to come back and adjust my rating to 5 stars on this Beautiful & L.A. legal Spyderco. I initially deducted a star because it wasn't smooth opening. Well, after playing with it, opening and closing it for a few weeks, this knife has become very smooth! I also get the bidirectional grip on the handle, very ingenious! The grip nearest the blade bites into your fingers if you push forward (meaning, if you are pushing the blade into something, it provides 'traction' and your fingers won't slip!) On the other end of the handle, the direction is reversed, so it bites into your fingers when you have the knife clipped and you are reaching to pull it out, you get a good grip! - Love this knife!

Current Everyday Carry Knife, exactly what I was looking for.
Spyderco's Delica 4 is exactly what I was looking for in an EDC knife. It is also the 3rd Spyderco I've owned, with the others being the Dragonfly 2 and the Tenacious. The Delica 4 is the perfect balance between those two when it comes to blade length, combination plain/serrated edge, weight, and locking mechanism. Previously I've carried Benchmade, Leatherman, and Victorinox as EDC knifes. What I like about Spyderco is the easy one handed operation with their signature thumb hole, as well as superb quality for the price point. I've found that though more than capable, I rather not mess up a Benchmade with normal day to day tasks, but in Spyderco's I've found great knives that I'm less hesitant to use rougher. Compared to the Tenacious, the Delica 4 is easier to carry, more lightweight, and of higher quality. Opens easy, and very ergonomic grip. Strong positive locking mechanism, and carry it comfortably inside the waistband all day without noticing.

Awesome knife
Great knife. Love the versatility of the blade. I had my last one for 7 years before I lost it. Great knife but the price doubled.

Lo Spyderco fa parte del mio vestiario ; in particolare il Delica4, in quanto la lama non perde mai il filo. Quando dico mai intendo mai.

Perfect EDC it’s just disappearing in my pocket. Good grip and light weight, nice build quality. VG-10 a bit feels soft for me after I got my s110v manix 2 But not before 😅
