Wow. This stuff is brilliant, BUT not enough. I managed to paint/roll 2 coats on my bathtub & looks brilliant. Be warned, the fumes are intense, so sensible to wear a mask & make sure you use all the ventilation you can get to disperse the fumes. Also, use the best quality foam rollers to roll/paint bath. I would recommend but ideally, do this DIY when everyone is away from home to give chance to ventilate & dry. Very easy to use, just mix the 2 tins together. I got the smallest tins & managed to get 2 coats. So I plan to buy another small amount, but if you are purchasing for the first time, just get the big tin. Also very sticky, so make sure you purchase methylated spirits or acetone to clean your brushes & your own hands, otherwise it takes forever to remove. A bit on the expensive side but worth it. I would have ended up paying £2k/£3k for new bath. Worth paying less on this. Since my last review bath has now properly dried & remains intact, following bathing in tub & washing with bath cleaner. My suggestion roll with good quality short hair roller rather than foam rollers, which disintegrate very quickly. I purchased good quality brand foam rollers & they still didn’t last very long. Be aware you will probably have to ditch roller, as difficult to remove this sticky liquid. I’ve purchased 2nd small pot & plan to roll another 2 coats, as very pleased with these items BUT I remain stating a bit on the expensive side, but works out cheaper than buying a new bathtub.

Make sure your working area is clear and decide in advance the sequence you will carry out the work. Once you start you cannot easily change direction as the paint films over very quickly. Really nice finish once cured.

My old cast iron bathtub was looking stained no matter how hard we cleaned it. Professional resurfacing quote for it was almost five hundreds pounds. So I decided to try this paint instead. The paint is easy to apply, it gives not ideal but very consistent, glossy and nice looking finish- see before and after pictures below. Make sure to thoroughly prepare surface prior to application like instructions said. Tools, stains and spills can be cleaned with nail varnish remover - I had couple of spots on my hands and taps , came off easily. In general it is simple and cheap solution if you’re ready to put some time into it .

The instructions for use of this product are written in incredibly small writing on the tin - I had to to use a magnifying glass. The size of the cans (each of which is supplied half full) is such that you are clearly intended to empty the hardener into the paint tin for mixing, and it is here that a potential problem arises. I was painting a standard 1.7m bath with a total surface area of approximately 3 square meters. The instructions give coverage as up to 8 square metres, so the product should be sufficient for two coats. However the instructions state that once mixed the paint has to be used within 2 - 3 hours. The same instructions say that the overcoating time is 10 - 12 hours. If you wait that long to do the second coat the remaining half of the product will have gone off and will be wasted. The instructions state that a high density foam roller can be used to apply the product and in the rest of my painting experience I have found these give the best finish on high gloss paints, so this is what I used. Within about 10 minutes and having coated only about a quarter of the bath, the roller started to disintegrate leaving small pieces of foam in the paint. I picked off the foam and replaced the roller with a fresh one (this wasted quite a bit of paint) again within ten minutes or so the roller started to disintegrate. I got through my pack of five rollers doing the first coat and it appears I didn't get all the sponge off. The resulting surface was far from smooth. Following the advice in another review, I closed the lid of the product and put it in the fridge, as the reviewer claimed this would retard the curing of the product - although it should be noted that that reviewer also used the renotub thinner which I did not have. I waited 14 hours and the surface appeared hard, so I then checked the product in the can. It was still liquid but was somewhat more viscous than before, so I attempted a second coat. Again I had to change the rollers every few minutes and the consequent wastage of paint meant that I only just managed to get a complete second coat. By this time the paint had attacked the rubber gloves I was wearing. The second coat caused the first coat to soften and bubble, which on drying left little crumpet-like holes in the surface. I suspect that despite having had 14 hours drying, because the room was cold due to the window having to be open (the fumes from the paint which contains xylene are dreadful), the drying time will be extended. I am extremely dissatisfied with the surface achieved by this product used according to the instructions. and would make the following observations: I suspect the only way to get a truly smooth surface with this paint would be to thin it and spray it. If the suppliers have successfully painted a bath with foam rollers that did not disintegrate, they should be supplied with the product, or the brand specified in the instructions. Given that a single coat on a typical bath will use about half the product, and given that the suppliers know (because they state in the instructions) that the remainder will cure before the first coat is hard enough for recoating, they might think about supplying the product in four tins (2 x paint and 2 x hardener) of half the size. I returned the empty cans of the product for a refund which to be fair was issued without quibble, but I won't be using this brand in future, unless they improve the instructions/useability.

Depending on the size of the surface need doing will determine how much you need. I did a corner bath and side panel, so needed 2 lots of paint. It is not advisable to use all paint in one go, as the shelf life is only 4 hours. Best to split in half, using a cleaned soup can etc pour half of each components and add some white spirit or other thinners and stir for a couple of minutes to get the air out. Try and use a conclave foam mini roller instead of the normal foam rollers as the disintegrate slower. You will need up to 4 rollers overall. Wait 10-12 hours then sand down any imperfections. Prep again and finish off. If you use it all in one go you will struggle to get the desired finish. Hope this helps.

Purchased to re-enamal and old bath tub where enamel had worn and staining had occurred due hair dye being used in a shower. Time consuming cleaning and preparation process. Quantity looks small but was split into two mixes to provide two coats. Finish not perfect but adequate. Goes off and becomes sticky quite quickly. Used roller brush. Second coat after 24hrs and left for a week to harden.
