Barrington Hardwoods Purpleheart Lumber Board - 3/4" x 2" (4 Pieces) (3/4" x 2" x 18")

I read in the Wood Database that this wood doesn't glue up well, but I have never had an issue. Do as little routing as possible with this--like don't route a handle for a charcuterie board from it, or the lengthwise cut for a juice groove--it is subject to router tear out, and burning. But, it is beautiful wood!!! Some reviews state in order to get a deep purple, you need "special" additional treatment. Not so. I used Food Safe mineral oil on the board only. In fact, I just have water on the chevron board to raise the grain, not even oiled yet. The Purple Heart looks great...

Ordering wood off amazon??? I was curious, Those were intended to rip down for edge banding at 3/32 stock, and use the other pieces as cleats that were visible only if you looked for them. No way after seeing these pieces- they're sea-rails now in a yacht cabinet. Its QUALITY purple heart- no knots, few different shades as normal but sanded to match, thinned epoxy made it really pop and 3 out of the 4 are absolute showpiece, cooked mirror coat and they look 3d and the other stick is just perfect bright purple straight grain. The owner of the company also wrote a nice note about the wood. I'm going to see what else he has to offer- this was a very pleasant surprise as a lifelong boatbuilder.

Great quality boards!! Boards are straight, no bow or twists, and all sides were smooth. The purple heart looks beautiful. Will be back to get more!

There is nothing I dislike, I ordered 4 different species, plus I had some of my own hard woods, so I could make cutting boards for a local chef who was on Hells Kitchen and runs a kitchen at local restaurant. I was never interested, because I carve freehand art for a living. But it seems now I will making cutting boards as well. Enough about me, all the wood I ordered was perfect, I will be buying again very soon. I just need to talk for the vender on getting 7/8" or 1" thick and wider boards . do to my wood working process

For the price, I was fully expecting to have to square this myself and bake it in the oven to bring out the color. I didn’t have to do any of that. Came out of the box looking wonderful. I also bought black walnut and white oak from the same vendor and it made for a beautiful and “easy to make” charcuterie board.

Ordered 4 pieces of the purple heart and two of them aren't purple. Looks like walnut to me. One of the puple heart pieces is cracked on the end. The paduak pieces are very nice. I wanted 4 purple heart though so I need to return.

I got my first order of wood from these people and to day it was rough would be an understatement. I reached out not expecting much and was surprised that they responded very quickly and showed genuine concern. They sent me a return label and then reshipped me another set of wood. The second set I got looks fantastic and I am extremely happy with them. I will definitely buy more wood from them as needed. It is nice when a seller shows general concern for their customers and strives to make it right.
