I'm not sure I can write enough good things about this tool. I'm so glad that I spent the money to buy something that was worth what this one's worth I made approximately a hundred of these taper cuts with the large gouge tool and I had no problems. I set the heat at about mid way. Pull the trigger until the blade heats up and starts cutting the material then release the trigger. Move the blade until you feel resistance, pull the trigger again and repeat. It works great. You have to go slow it's not a saw.
