Starter fits great, looks robust, machining looks great, and best of all it starts my old Mercury.Downside was the way the bendix gear is cut. The inner chamfer on the bendix gear caught on the should of the shaft so the gear would not pop up and engage the flywheel. I needed the engine to run so I didn’t have time to return and the next one likely would have the same issue. I put a washer under the bendix gear and solved this issue. The gear still clears the flywheel at rest and it operates as it should every time now.

Great starter my only complaint, I believed I was getting a solid black starter when it arrived looked exactly like my stock. NOT that this feature would have changed its performance because it works great, just wanted that little extra eye candy. I would buy one again if ever I needed to.

Needed new started for my old 78 merc 115. This bolted right up and worked flawlessly. Can’t beat this price.

I purchased this to replace an original 50-72467 starter. Fit was exactly to the original except...Ground wire bolt was a different size and was not included. I was lucky enough to find one after digging around in the shed for 30 minutes. This inexpensive part should be included!!

This fit my 84 Mercury 90 exactly, change out was fast and this gets the engine started again. Nice to hear the starter go like it should! The hole for the ground screw in the top area of the starter is different size than the original starter ground screw, but I was able to dig through my spare parts collection to find a screw that fit. Structurally it matched the original, and it mounted to the motor properly.

Fit

Just be very careful about getting the right one. There are many that are similar in size, shape and part number. Some are just a small difference, but major problem if wrong.....like the size of the drive gear. Count the teeth!

Fit perfectly on my '82 115 mercury, worked great.

The item arrived before the scheduled time. Went into the motor, exact same as original. Started with no issues. Excellent/inexpensive option.
