The lessons are well thought out and lessons are presented very straightforward, so thankfully I didn’t need to hover to teach. There are parts to practice copying words, then writing from memory, then matching them with their meaning (in various ways, sometimes mix n match, crossword puzzle), and using them in a sentence. Sometimes you fill in missing letters, syllables, Latin roots, or other variations. It’s great for etymology. My son doesn’t love this because it’s still homework in his mind (purchased grade 4), but he doesn’t hate it because it’s actually pretty straightforward and quick, despite his perfectionism that can be time-consuming. I highly recommend these spelling books. Review: Great for homeschool - Finally! We found a homeschool spelling book that fits our needs. This is the 5th spelling book we've tried in 3 years of homeschooling . It's definitely the best so far. So many of the other curriculum try to include too much. It is simple and to the point. It's not a great book for writing or vocabulary . There's not enough of either. It's really just simple spelling activities encouraging the child to write the words a few times a day and to visually spot incorrect spelling. Each lesson takes only a few minutes.

Love
This is amazing! As a homeschool mom I am always looking for new workbooks to keep my kids engaged. I usually have multiple of each subject that I rotate throughout our school year because every books style is different and the content is different so it keeps my kids from getting to bored with the same workbook and learning style for the whole year. I do mostly child let and hands on learning but I do some workbooks just to help with penmanship and reading skills

Challenging but good
These brands of spelling books seem to be more challenging for my kids but they still enjoy them. I like that they mix the spelling with crossword puzzles and other fun activities during the week.

A good staple for home school, with typical or special needs kids
We've used these books for several of our kids for 5 years now. Some of our kids are typical, while others were special needs. Each day presents easy, effective lessons hitting not only on the spelling words of that week but also on core curriculum milestones so that it re-enforces lessons we are learning in their Language arts sheets. My favorite part is that at first glance each day, my kids are hit with pages that are well spaced and well organized. The layout gives my kids a quick sense of "This lesson will only take a moment" Sometimes when too much is on a page or it is tightly packed together, my kids get overwhelmed before even attempting the work because it seems to be too much...but these lessons were great and also my kids had good retention...at the end of a year, I gave them a "Mega" spelling test to see how they had retained these words and they did great. This spelling book is a great "staple" to any home school curriculum!

Great for our homeschool curriculum
This is our first year adding spelling to our curriculum. My 9yr old 4th grader is an avid reader and has always spelled well. The word lists are challenging but still doable! No complaints and I love how it lays it all out for you!

too many words per week (20, I think) for my daughter (8) who does not enjoy spelling. It's very well organised on 5 days a week, the concept is good.

I really love this style of learning with the spelling list followed by practise sheets using those specific words prior to taking the test!

I use these for homeschool, my kids write right in the book. They are a great time-saver for teachers as all the work and activities are there, already made. We do a page a day, and on Friday is the spelling test. My child finds most words at the right level to feel successful. There are a few harder words, too, plus room to print your own challenge words. Overall, a great resource.

Really great book for your kids. Easy for them to follow and online with what they are learning in school
