The Living Bioluminescent Bio-Orb (Large 6") A Glowing Glass Sphere Powered by Ocean Plankton

This sphere is rather large, which is fine and what I wanted. However the included dinos seemed to struggle with the volume. The first day was a 1.5 inch circle floating in the middle. Then everything began to collapse to the bottom. Now only a few floating groups remain as it is struggling to get back 'healthy'. The glow isn't up to what I would expect. I believe maybe the packages of dinos had too little in them for it to have a great chance and starting. Leaving at 3 stars for now as they seem to be living, but are definitely not near what is seen in the photos. It's not a time zone issue, as I'm on the same time zone pyrofarms is. I've read all of the how to, and documents I can and this is the only understanding I can come to. I've included some photos to show the groupings on the second day. The third day there were less floating than that. Update: day 5 and it seems they are attempting recovery. I can see some in the water itself. Glowing is still not what videos show. Added a short clip from microscope camera Update: after contacting pyrofarms, a replacement set of dinos were shipped. The new set were more lively and now show a great floating yellow batch. It took support a bit to get back, however the replacement is much better. I have increased to 5 stars. I attached a new photo of the sphere with the batch that are all the way to the edges of the sphere. The glow is great and getting better every day.

Didn't work. Followed all the instructions but nothing glowed :((

I received them (6 inch version) in the mail via USPS which caused me a little concern (January in Chicago). I left them in the bags under a light until I went to bed. The next morning I could see a little glow when I moved them near a window but I didn't want to disturb them too much so soon. I transferred them to the sphere that afternoon and the next night they were spectacular. I slowly turned the sphere and it was like millions of fireflies. The flashes reflect off the bottom and sides which makes is spectacular. Like any annoying aquarium algae, if treated right it should last/reproduce/multiply for many, many years. Even if they would only last a couple of weeks, it would be worth the price for children to see and learn. There's an enclosed booklet which gives enough information for care/knowledge and for a basis to do some good online searches for more information if you want more in depth knowledge. Very happy with the purchase.

Amazing product, glows very brightly and adds lots of character to whatever space you put it in. One way to take this product to the next level is get an extra liter of dinos (with the other 2 bags the large is filled about 80%), then get a magnetic chemistry stirrer. Swirling the dinos works perfectly fine but feels a bit unwieldly in your hands especially with extra liquid, chemistry stirrers are designed for this perfectly and you could even hook it up to an outlet timer to have it go off at different periods at night.

I was so excited to get these, but never got to enjoy them as there was a crack in the orb. I filled the orb, my hands got damp but thought it was from tranfering the liquid, and placed it in a North facing window to get sunlight and recover from shipping, came back at night to see if they lit up and found most of the liquid had seeped out. I wish I could give a review of the dinoflagellates themselves but I never got to see them light up.

These arrived safely. No leaks and they were alive. They are so cool to play with. This was a gift for my son. I received them before Christmas so I had to take them out of the box and care for them until Christmas. No they live with my son I miss them lol Guess Momma has to buy some for herself.

I was worried about buying this, but it is very simple. The directions are simple and easy to follow and the product just looks amazing and relaxing and it’s definitely something you want to show your friends.

The package came in on time well packed it looks nice as instructions say it only glows at a certain time 5am for a short period the timing will change depending where you place it.
