A nice really compact VHF with many high end featueres. I was able to program it for one button emergency calls, registering through BoatUS without a fee. Easy set up and connections. Unit is pretty small and compact so it easily fit in the spot I had an old unit in. Tested it and got a response from another boater in the next harbor about 8 miles away. I only wish these units came with bluetooth connectivity for headphones - it is just not practical to hear any speaker above the noise my twin volvo pentas put out!

Great VHF Radio. Easy to use, really good volume and clear reception.

Installed quickly, NMEA 0183 wotks perfectly with Humminbird gps antenna. Super easy to operate, displays channel descriptions on screen, scans, great upgrade from my Standard Horizon Eclipse (which could not pick up gps coordinates from the Humminbird for some reason and therefore could not use the DSC feature.)

After 3 months, the display has stopped working. The radio is still operable, but without the display there is no way to know to what station the radio is tuned. So the radio is now basically useless. I have contacted Cobra for guidance. We will see how they handle this situation. UPDATE: Cobra did repair the radio and sent it back. It is now fully functional. My only issue with the repair experience was that I had to pay to ship it to them, and I had to keep after them on the repair status. No matter how many times they say they will contact you, they will not. Each time I spoke with customer service, they were very pleasant to deal with. Also, the department that performs repairs is a completely different department from customer service. I could detect some communication issues between the two. So the lesson here is... contact them every other day to ask for a status. They will eventually come through.

Radio is very nice.

Small, easy to install and operate. Extra controls on the mic are handy. I have the boat parked in a pole barn. I'm using a 3db 4' mast. I set up the local radio, (wx) and it came in clearly with no static. Should be great on the water

It did not come with the mount or the screw knobs even though it said it would.

Once connected you can pick it up by the neck without hurting it. I advise talking to it nicely and not getting all up in its face. Makes me feel heard. Cons- if it doesn't feel the electricity, it becomes unresponsive and ignores you.

I bought this radio for our 19' bowrider. We mostly use it to pull the kids on the tube on the little lake where we live, but we live on the West Coast and sometimes put in on the big salty water (on calm days). We stay within sight of land, but wanted to be able to call for help if a bad thing happened. We haven't had to use it yet, but we monitor channel 16 for any warnings or a call for help from another craft. I have not used the DCS feature yet, but I'm sure it will come in handy in future. The radio is reasonably easy to use without pulling the manual out and the installation was pretty straight forward. I expect someone with a sailboat or a cruiser that goes further out and in rougher weather, might need a better set than this. However, I'm really pleased with this unit and can recommend it to anyone looking for an entry level set.

Had to return the first one as a mount was missing in the box. Second shipment had it all in. Lots of options to use, practice with it first

Works fine, and although I'm still learning the specifics of its operation, it seems to do the job as advertised. I was able to enter my MMSI number and the UTM time, but after re-starting the VHF, it seems to have lost all the GPS data that was previously showing. I'm not sure if I have to enter the Long. and Lat. everytime I use the radio, or input the UTM.
