This is a very handy, easy to use and nearly foolproof! There are individual plastic zip loc baggies of shaved magnesium. I actually used half a baggie and wrapped it in a paper towel and just put a match to it and it burned a searing white hot and started the large logs. Great to have when kindling is scarce or anytime. Nice storage tin and wind proof matches too!

Easy way to get a fire startid

The magnesium purity is high enough to satisfy me, and the packaging is design with space in mind. It's almost too tight to repack so if you open it, test some if it to make room so you don't tear the bags repacking. Contains individual bags made of an unresilient material but the box is solid so just don't mess the contents too much and it's fine. You could make your own cheaper if you shop out raw magnesium from a chemical supplier, but who has the time. Good kit, tight fit

This Emergency Fire Starter Magnesium and Matches is a nice complement to my hiking essentials kit. I stuck an extra ferro rod in the tin and then sealed it with some electrical tape to provide some water proofing. There is enough magnesium in this kit to start many fires. I suggest taking just a bit out of each bag to create a practice pile before you may have to face needing to use it for an emergency. Then you will understand that it takes a bit to get it started but once you do you will not be able to put the magnesium out. The heat of the magnesium fire will get your wood fuel started long enough to baby it and keep it going.

This is really awesome. This is really easy to use, just pour some out, and with a strike of a ferro Rod, it catches fire and the fire is extremely hot. I am really happy with this kit. It even came with storm matches and match container. I will definitely be buying again

Weather u are a outdoor enthusiasts or just a homebody you need this ! Works amazing no matter if the wood is wet or covered in snow this will start a fire everytime ! Great price and quick delivery a must have for everyone you never know when u just might depend on a fire to not freeze to death

Easy to use vary happy with it

This is a mixed-quality fire starter kit. The magnesium shavings work well and ignite reliably, but the packs are bulky and take up more space than I’d like for a compact kit. The waterproof matches are serviceable—good enough to work when needed, but not particularly robust or impressive. The biggest letdown is the ferro rod: the steel separated from the plastic handle during testing, which makes it unreliable for anything beyond casual use. Overall, some usable components, but the kit isn’t something I’d fully trust without replacing the ferro rod.

Matches are bad.not waterproof and don't get lights up.
