Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies: The Groundbreaking Program for the 4-A Disorders

I have two children who have been 'diagnosed' with ADHD. The school also suspected that my son has Asperger's Syndrome, a high functioning form of autism. I was desperate to avoid drugging my kids. Dr. Bock explained, in words that a parent could understand, what could be the cause and how I could help. I tried taking my kids off of milk products (not even a casein free diet)and what a difference! My son stayed focused enough to help clean out a garage for THREE hours without any prompting from either of us. My daughter didn't show as dramatic a change, although I can say that her flare-ups of temper and stubborness have decreased. I am sold. His book gives real case studies of children he's helped (and even if he exaggerated or outright lied, it did work for my son), resources for parents looking into helping their children, and other important information. This book sits on my desk, next to the dictionary and the PDR for meds. I would recommend this book WITHOUT hestitation to any parent who needed more information on allergies, asthma, ADHD, and autism. Caution: he doesn't promise a cure, and in fact, clearly states that even with diet modifications, de-toxifying the body and nutritional supplements, some children still require medications. But, if my choices are a casein-free diet and an ADHD med versus anti-anxiety/psychotic meds & ADHD meds, well, that's a no-brainer.

I bought this book primarily because both my children suffer from eczema, and the most hope and help I have found is within the autism community. Both my children also have some ADD behaviors, which seem to be getting worse over time, and numerous food and environmental sensitivities and allergies, which are also getting worse. I am so impressed with Dr. Bock's easy to access way of explaining things. I have gone from overwhelmed to feeling ready to formulate a plan for healing my children. The only frustration I found is the lack of a DAN! doctor in my area, and that most doctors, even if sympathetic with our issues and open to a less allopathic approach, are completely ignorant in comparison with Dr. Bock. So I feel somewhat alone in knowing what I know about sulphation, methylation and so on, since my doctors look at me blankly when asked about these issues. However, this book is giving me the courage to take the steps we need to take to recover our children, or at the very least, to do all that we can to avoid going down the path of simply pumping them with Ritalin and oral steroids, as the allopathic doctors would have us do.... If your child or anyone in your family has these issues (and I would say even related inflammatory and autoimmune issues) this is a great book to read. Thank you, Dr. Bock!

Excellent! I highly recommend to anyone interested in looking outside the mainstream medical community to help your child. I had already purchased this book prior to taking my child to a ND but hadn’t gotten a chance to read it. I was pleasantly surprised when I sat down and finally read it tonight. Wow, my daughter suffers from many of the issues suggested in the book and in fact the ND recommend many of these same things after seeing my daughters lab work. We are starting GF/CF diet as well as many other supplements and detoxification. I’m hopeful that we will be able to get her back on track. This book was very helpful in me gaining a further understanding of my daughters health issues outside of the short time I spend with her Dr.

I bought this book because I have asthma and severe airborne allergies myself and want to prevent both of my sons from having them if at all possible. Both of my boys have food intolerances and some suspected allergies as well. After reading this book and just being AMAZED at the information and looking back into my family history and realizing how far back this can go, I started modifying my own diet. I had already eliminated dairy from my diet and my oldest son's as we are both lactose intolerant, but I also eliminated gluten from our diets. Guess what, 2 months into a gluten-free diet, I stopped my asthma steroid that I have been taking for years and I now get a better number on my peak flow meter than I did when I was on medication!!! This book also provided great information on vaccines and as a result, I will be modifying my 10 month old's vaccination schedule. I am going to be consulting a local biomedical clinic at the first of the year for the care of both of my sons and hope that Dr. Bock's message continues to get out because it is truly enlightening information.

My four year old daughter was having some severe health problems including recurrent hives, eczema, urinary problems, as well as behavioral problems. She also had intense "itchiness" all of the time. I took her to multiple pediatricians and a pediatric urologist. These "doctors" all told me that she was fine, there was nothing wrong with her, and that her immune system just needed some help. What was their recommendation? Prescription medication, of course, including steroids. No way was I going to cover up my daughter's illness with steroids. I wanted to find out what the underlying cause of her problems was. This book makes so much sense and he addresses the immune system dysfunction and how it relates to so many common childhood illnesses such as the 4A's. My daughter's problems were all reactions to severe allergies. In May 2012, my husband and I took her to Dr. Bock. She had a lot of testing done, and he has been treating her since then with dietary changes and supplementation. She has improved so much and I am so thankful. She has not had anymore hives or urinary problems, and her eczema is about 75% improved. Her behavior has improved a lot as well. Please don't just accept that your child's severe allergies, asthma, autism, or ADHD is something they have to live with forever. Western medicine has many great things to offer, but when it comes to chronic illnesses - traditional physicians are way off. There is so much healing that the body can achieve if you give it what it needs to heal.

As an advocate for not giving babies the nationally prescribed vaccinations, this book confirmed my views but also was non biased enough to offer differing opinions. Having witnessed first hand the damage that not only childhood vaccines but also antibiotics can do to the developing child, this book needs to be read by new mums and mums to be to get clear, medically informed and researched information about keeping their new born child healthy and free from the new childhood epidemics.

Again, my daughter was very interested in this book.

Must read for any parent that knows or suspects developmental delay or any of these issues of childhood. Your doctor may not agree with these methods but they are a do no harm approach that just might save your child. Nothing to loose and so much potential to gain. When your child is suffering from not being typical TRY EVERYTHING. Don't miss knowing about the possibilities of this approach. Well written well organized.
