WILL lower your LDL
Start out taking a small amount until your body acclimates to prevent the dreaded flush - you'll experience slight flushing as you slowly increase dosage over time - took me two weeks to reach a full scoop (1 gram) - once you acclimate you'll be able to take 3 grams per day, the minimum dosage for affecting LDL levels Another benefit is this powder will also raise your HDL level at least by 5-6 points This stuff is great - mix it with tea (no creamers they'll clump) or like what I do flavored water or sports pre workout drinks which is another benefit if this amazing vitamin The reason you get a flush reaction is its a natural vasodilator meaning it relaxes your blood vessels - this is fantastic for exercising because it'll bring more O2 to your muscles while simultaneously keeping your blood pressure from spiking during heavy exercise or even walking fast This vitamin is a must have for anyone seriously looking to benefit not just with lowering LDL but with many other health benefits - definitely check out the other fantastic amino acid and mineral powders from nutricost - they're well worth the value

I liked the capsules that NOW Foods makes
Prefer the niacin in capsules. Taking one gram of the powder in water is sour. Adding some sugar helps. I liked the capsules that NOW Foods makes. It wouldn't really be possible to hide this in food - you feel the tingling almost immediately when you take it! After opening an unused car during a winter that had mice in it and breathing in the fumes, a week or two later in a matter of minutes a fever combined with chills hit, my heart was pounding, and my organs hurting. I started taking monolaurin and sat in front of the heat wrapped up five hours and over the next couple of days recovered - except for my heart. Six weeks of niacin, pomegranate juice, nattokinase and d-ribose finally did the trick. A few years later, my heart gave out again, disabling, and a toothache that spread. This time acupressure points worked, but as soon as the niacin and nattokinase and serrapeptase arrived, started downing them. Works great. Niacin also seems to be good for those who have bad depression, anxiety, and ADHD type issues, drug problems, and tick bites. It works within minutes, and even though it may give you a scare from the very temporary rash the first few times, it won't hurt you. Is deadly for some bacteria. If someone feels awful and hates everything or everything is impossible, this is worth trying and you'll know within the hour if it will help or not. There is a lot of research to do with mental illnesses referenced in a paper on the Mauve Factor, and a book by William Walsh, PhD.

For Best Morning Rocket Coffee Ever!!!
Try this... Put into your "coffee pot before brewing" in an appropriate scoop *amount of Nutricost Niacin, a table spoon or more of HumanN HeartGreens Superfood Organic Powder (great flavor), and a table spoon or more of chocolate Hershey Cocoa powder. You are off and running with phytonutrients, highest levels of antioxidants and much more with a booster rush behind it. *Start small on the niacin if not a seasoned taker as you do build up a tolerance to it. The chocolate flavor combined with the green apple flavor of the HumanN HeartGreens ASIN: B07LGK41PW is my gourmet coffee treat. Love it !!! Very addicting. (Daniel Z, Lockport, IL) I did forget to mention above that both the Powdered Cocoa and HeartGreens will settle to the bottom and not dissolve completely in the coffee pot. So stir briskly before pouring or just add the Niacin in the pot and then the Cocoa and HeartGreens into your coffee cup before pour. The other healthy things I do add which are personal optional choices is BLACKSTRAP Molasses (high in minerals and other nutrients) and drop or two of J.CROW'S Lugol's Solution of Iodine. All this makes your morning coffee far more than just coffee covering a wide spectrum of health areas. Of course you may have your own ideas for needs and extras but the niacin does cause the small blood vessels in your skin to dilate so more blood can rush through bringing this to your system more rapidly. If you read up on niacin, this dilation process also helps flush / remove toxins, improve circulation and health. All these coffee extras can take advantage of that process.

If you're sensitive, get the non-flushing formula.
Start with very small doses. This product creates crazy hot flushes. Depending on your sensitivity, you may break out into hives-like splotches on the skin, which will subside after a number of hours. For severe cases, cold showers, drink tonnes of water, splash with chilled chamomile tea. Or just avoid all that and start with minute doses and work your way up until you know your tolerance. I take this for protein synthesis, so it's not immediately apparent if it's working, especially as it's part of my supplement stack. But, as niacin is know to flush, I guessing that it's doing its job.

I use this every day
This goes into my lemon water every morning. I only use about 1/8 of a teaspoon, as my skin is a bit sensitive, and flushes more easily than most. I will tell you, 1/8 tsp is PLENTY. I'm not sure where they got the "1 scoop = 1 serving, but that is way overkill. My dosage has done wonders for my cholesterol levels, and I'm sure my heart is thankful for it. It's great to add into your gym drink, or just your workday water bottle. Niacin does provide healthy energy production benefits, as an added bonus. If you're skin flushes and burns with niacin, I recommend taking it before bed. The flushing will be gone when you wake up, and you'll never even know it warmed you up while you slept! This is a ridiculous bargain compared to buying capsules. If you're only taking the normal recommended dosage for adults per day (100%), this one jar will literally last years.

The formula has changed - was great, now not so much *Updated
*Updated 1/18/21* - I have done some experimenting. After reading other reviews on this and other brands of niacin powder where users agree that something has changed in the past few months, I noted that several reviewers mentioned that the newer version we are seeing is very granular compared to the previous batches which were a superfine powder. The newer granular product was said by some to not dissolve in water, whereas the fine powder readily dissolved. I did my own experiment and found that to be true. The new powder mostly floated on top of the water and gradually sank to the bottom and just sat there. Stirring did not help. After consulting an online chemical database, I found that niacin is said to be only weakly soluble in room temperature water, but highly soluble in hot water. I found that to be true with this newer batch. In hot water, it did dissolve with a little stirring in a couple of minutes. In tasting the solution, I got the recognizable flavor of niacin, just like the fine powder. I found that drinking the solution did indeed provide much of the effect of that I am accustomed to getting. So I am now of the opinion that at least part of the problem is mechanical - the newer granules are simply not assimilated in the gut the way the fine powder is. So maybe it is pure nicotinic acid that, due to the way it is manufactured, is not absorbed well. That makes me feel better that perhaps I have not ingested unknown fillers, but still does not make me happy with this new inferior form. ** [Previous review] I agree with the other reports that something has changed and that this is not pure nicotinic acid (niacin, vitamin b3). I bought a tub of Nutricost niacin powder in October 2018. A very fine powder, with very potent flushing effect, very effective for overmethylation. I purchased most recently a tub in October of 2020. The texture is very granular, so something had changed. But that did not put me off from using it. However after several weeks I have realized that I get very little flush from this new batch. And most importantly, very little positive effect of the kind I got from the previous batch and from other brands of niacin. I contacted Nutricost and they were quick to trade emails (so, I give them credit for that.) However in the end they simply indicated that I have probably built up a tolerance to it. Well, I've been taking niacin for 3 years, and I am quite familiar with how niacin affects me. A search on Amazon showed that users of Pure Bulk powdered niacin have the same complaint about recent purchases. I am guessing it is coming from the same source. I now feel inclined to stick to solid brands that I know test their products like Now, Life Extenstion, Jarrow, Pure Encapsulations, and a few others. They may cost more, but what is the point in buying cheaper products if you are concerned that they are not pure? Two stars is probably more than deserved, at least for this batch, but it does have a mild effect so there is some active ingredient.

Much different from other Niacin
Originally, I had read about Niacin a few years ago and saw it in a documentary. Recently, I purchased Niacin from this company because my bag was almost done. The cup inside is really small and I ONLY use one small cupful. This will probably last me a year. I ONLY take Niacin on a full stomach, as I learned the hard way. If I took it without food, I would begin to sweat and my body turned red like I had a sunburn. I do NOT take this product with alcohol. I LOVE the fact it does not come in a bag, but with a lid because it can clump together when in a humid area. I also love the fact that the cup is large enough that I only have to put in one cup into water, and not two cups. I'm a big fan of Niacin, but do not take if you are going through surgery (prior or after). I'd wait a few months, as this product will make you feel flush. Originally I thought I might be allergic because my skin looked a bit swollen, and I started to sweat. However; this is normal if you choose to drink this product without any food in your tummy. Don't do it, because you might think your body is losing it. Always eat prior to taking Niacin and after a while your body gets used to it and won't be so flush anymore. The blood really starts to circulate and excrete all the nonsense that we put into our bodies. The flavor is lemon-like and I try to down it as quickly as possible because I'm not a huge fan of the flavor.
