Turns out the sound does work perfectly.
Although I originally thought that the sound didn't work, it turns out it was my TV glitching out. The product works as advertised and I'm there for required to tell you that is great. Sorry.

Nintendo converter for older games
My husband and I love to play older games on the Nintendo NES system. Prior to getting the HDMI converter, the game would lose connection, or the screen would fade in and out making the game not as much fun. Once we received the converter, we hooked it up and it brought new life to our NES system. It was unbelievable the difference it made. We have so much fun playing these old games! We do use it for the NES system but it also works with the Nintendo N64-that we have tried. Super easy to hook up. If you enjoy playing these older games and are having issues with your system, give this a try.

Do not buy under any circumstances
Did not come with the listed micro-usb cable to power the system. FRIED THE POWER SUPPLY ON MY GAMECUBE!!! Idgaf about fixable blue screen errors, this thing pulls way more power than it should and when powering on my GameCube with the converter connected to power, it shorted the power supply. I was powering on the system first, then connecting power to the converter because leaving the converter plugged in with the system off still left residual power, enough to leave the LED lit. But I forgot ONE TIME to unplug the micro-usb in between uses, hit the power button on the GameCube, and no response. Even when unplugging everything, switching cables, switching outlets. DO NOT BUY Edit: after reading a couple more one star reviews, this is a *common* issue with the system sending power back into the GameCube and frying several others.

Do not give up on this, totally worth it!
So so so happy with this purchase and service! I got the adapter and it initially would not work and kept showing no signal. I read some reviews and saw other reviews stating the same issue but decided not to give up on it after 1 failed attempt. I emailed the seller, let them know the issue I was having. They quickly got back to me within a day of how to troubleshoot by using a small cotton ball with a ljttle alcohol on the connecting piece to the adapter and suggested as the n64 probably had not been used in some time it would need to be cleaned to make sure no dust settled. Well sure enough thats all it took. Turned my n64 back on and it worked right away! Pictute quality is what I expected being this console is from the 90s and technology has just exploded since. So so happy with this purchase all around and definitely recommend!

Classics in HD
The product is fantastic; it is an answer to a problem I have been having for a few years. My new LG 4k does not like my older games, notably my SNES and N64, using the av cables. I do not play the SNES as much, since most have been brought back to the Nintendo Switch. However, I have been playing my N64, especially Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2. During transitions from battles, the screen would go black and I would have to switch to HDMI 1 and then back to AV to get the screen to come back. Thanks to this amazing product, I no longer have to do that. The screen is very clear and looks great! I could not give it a 5/5 because of one thing: now and then it switches from clear to blurry. I do not know why it does that but it will seldom. Once I unplug and restart it returns to a clear screen.

Works great once your console is clean
If your n64 has been sitting around for the past 10-15 years like mine has and you also get a blue screen when you turn it on…. Unplug it and clean the n64 with cotton swabs & ipa on all the game, console, and memory connections. The cable probably works fine and your console is just filthy with dust like mine was.

You get what you order, a cheap product
If you dont care about things like audio and input lag, and just want a cheap solution then you get what you order. A cheap product. This thing does not do everything it claims, and it is also a bit sketchy. If you look at the images they put for the product, it shows people playing super nintendo games on an ique. Indicating this is an illegitimate chinese product put together with no care. For those who dont know, ique is a chinese n64, the entire console is in the controller. If you look in the images they put on here themselves, you will see that is not a normal n64 controller. They had bans on video games when the n64 came out. Now, its not a horrible product. But it was clearly designed to make a quick buck off of people who dont know much about these sorts of things. Technical issues and things it doesnt do: It has problems with the audio, which they mention, but even their solution doesnt work all the time. My main problem is it doesnt maintain proper audio levels or stereo audio most of the time. The video is definitely not upscaled at all, if so not high enough for modern tvs. I think this is just supposed to be a pass through for tvs that no longer have the ports for the cables you get with an n64. Which is not how its advertised. Overall, my recommendation is to stay away from this product. But, if you do not have $100 laying around to purchase the other solutions out there, this can suffice. But you will certainly find yourself wishing you spent the extra money.
