Rottweiler are very smart, and have such unique personalities that it is ...
We got a new rottweiler puppy, the first time we get a rottweiler. It has been 3 months, but I must say that this book has been extremely helpful from the moment we started the selection process, to the moment we brought our puppy home, and through his training. It helps you understand puppy hood and puts in perspective the type of personality that would fit your life style. It taught us about the puppy aptitude test, which as I said, helped us be prepared for the day we went to meet the litter of puppies and choose just the right energy and personality for our household. It goes on to teach the new owner about the Do's and Don'ts of raising a rottweiler. Rottweiler are very smart, and have such unique personalities that it is very important to educate yourself, as an owner, to better understand these beautiful breed. Ultimately a dog will be as good as their owner helps them to be.

A book to have if you want a Rottie
Rottweiler is not another pet but a special breed. Training a Rottie and make him an obedient pet is very important compared to other breeds. McNinch has fulfilled her task in this book. It is well illustrated, easy reading and broadly covers all aspects of information that is needed for someone who wants to own this adorable dog.It is an excellent book and I recommend this to anyone who wants to make a rottweiler a good companion.

Good, but better for puppy owners.
We got a rottweiller from the shelter. He is a year old, and this book is definately geared toward puppies, and purebred rotties. Useful information though.

Preparing for my rotty pup
Have had rotties for the last 25 years and this time I wanted to use a different approach in preparing for our new rottweiler female pup. This book has certainly identified areas one should be aware off with regards to puppy-proofing the home as well as getting the pups attention from an early stage onwards. Many Rottweiler specific traits are discussed and I have found to be extremely helpful. This book is easy reading and a terrific resource for any serious Rottweiler owner.

Great book for new owners of Rottweilers!
This book is really good for beginners learning to train any breed of dog. This book does well to emphasize the importance of consistency, and the need to exercise your dog (specifically walking your dog regularly). Wolves travel long distances, and are pack animals. This book will teach you how good training relates to your Rottweiler. This book was even easy enough for my children to read, and learn about the breed. I truly loved this book, I still have it, and have read it more than once.

Pretty good books. Seems a bit general though
I saw a lot of reviews saying this book really touches specifically on rottweiler characteristics which is why picked it up. It occasionally does do so. But I still came away feeling like there should have been more emphasis on specific sections. It seems the book tries to cover all the possible aspects on how and on what you can train your rottweiler on. But I think more time could have been spent on specific topics and tips on improving training. In the end if feels as if this book is starter book to try to entice you into getting other books for training.

Comprehensive and Thoughtful
This book handles with clarity the challenging job of training a rottweiler. These are dogs of great intelligence and strength - a wonderful combination when properly directed. Ms. McNinch puts what could seem like a daunting task into completely understandable training plans for your dog. I own 12 rottweilers and know that well trained they are a wonderful gift, untrained they can be powerful gremlins with the power to think. This book makes the training a do-able task - which should result in less throw-a-way rotties, lost because of lack of knowledge.

Best little book for a complete guide!
I am thoroughly impressed and completely satisfied with this book. I bought it based on customer reviews and they were right. It is very good at specifically describing many of the nuances of Rottweilers. Don't let anyone tell you... "all breeds are the same it's just the way you train them." Most rotts have similar tendencies. This book was very helpful in preparing me for each stage.
