Would these be strong enough to be tied together and used as a rope for scaling a wall?

I found that with my socks tied together I couldn't move my feet sufficiently to climb the wall. I'm trying again tomorrow with a new plan involving tying them to a pogo stick.

why has this product switched from mostly cotton to polyester?...terrible!!

For what it’s worth, here is the product makeup for the two twelve-packs of these that I just received (January 3, 2020): Cotton: 79% Polyester: 16% Natural latex rubber: 3% Spandex: 1% Nylon: 1% It’s worth noting that the contents list is on a sticker affixed to the plastic packaging, not on the packaging itself. The sticker isn’t covering another contents list; I checked. This implies to me that the contents may change from time to time.

I have been buying hanes big and tall socks for about 20 years and were very happy with them. Now they are painfully tight. What happened ? Why ?

We had the same problem. My husband has also worn these socks for over 20 years and when I bought two packs of them in the store we had to give them to a young nephew because they were so small and tight. My husband is only a size 10, but has muscular calves so they are a little larger, he wore them one day at work and his feet were numb when he got home. They cut the blood circulation to his feet off. I was going to buy the larger size but I see that's not even going to help because they're going to be just as tight. Hanes what you're doing is ridiculous and sad. You're losing longtime customers.

Great Value Bulk Pack

At this price point these socks are great value for your money, it’s hard to find any others that are cheaper per sock. I haven’t had any issues with durability so far after wearing all 14 pairs at least 5 times each, will update later if that changes. Thickness is decent for the price, not enough for uses such as hiking but perfect for daily wear. General appearance is as pictured, not really different than any other white sock visually. Overall, good option for a daily general use sock.
