After trying many different cheese cutters, mostly with less than favorable outcomes, I found this cutter. It has held up for over a year of regular use, with dishwasher cleaning every time. While trying to get creative with gifts this year, we decided to give gifts of things that we would like to receive. That’s when this cutter became part of the gift for all of our family. It works well, holds up and it is as good today as a year ago.

My mother had an old cheese slicer that I remember as a child. I found it in a drawer after she passed away, and we have been using it for years, but it finally broke and was unfixable even for my husband who fixes everything!! So we were on the hunt for a replacement on Amazon. Lots of plastic and ones with extra wires.....we just want one that has a wire that will last like my mom's old one. This German made one seemed the only one to be sturdy enough and well made. We've used it several times as we often have cheese and fruit for lunch often. Has some weight to it and seems like it will last and it's not terribly wide, which we appreciate. Time will tell, but it seems great so far.

Great, light weight, slices through cheese so smoothly and easily. Doesn’t take up much space in the drawer. I love it!

Very pleased with this purchase. It has been very satisfying to turn a large block of cheddar gradually into fresh slices. Pre-sliced packaged cheese never quite tastes the same and freshly sliced cheese is pricier and doesn't last as long. There was a slight learning curve, but online demos of similar tools show the correct method. At least one Yt video showed very bad technique, so watch a few. One theoretical con of this tool is that the wire is not replaceable, but I don't see it failing anytime soon. The competing models on Amazon look fine *except* that they all have relatively shorter handles, which I believe would take more effort to use - this was the main reason to choose this particular tool. This is a hypothesis, but I am pretty confident that it is a solid rationale.

Cheese slicer is as described. Heavy stainless body and wire seems sturdy.

I bought mine almost 7 years ago after a cheaper cheese cutters wire went slack after a couple months. It's held up well and cuts as smoothly as the day I got it. It's not adjustable but you get used to controlling the thickness of the slice by angling your hand differently.

Fantastic product. I mulled over the cheese slicers that have the same wire attachment but with the marble/wood etc bases and realized.....those types of slicers can only cut cheese 1 particular way, for a cheese tray for example or thin slices of the thin portion of most cheese blocks. This particular unit/style is exactly what I was looking for, I can cut the cheese any which way I want, especially for sandwich slices wide & thin which the other type of units cannot do. I've used this for a month or 2 now and it's perfect and seems very durable. I do keep this in a drawer away from any sharp utensils as the wire part of this although it seems fairly robust, I just don't want it accidentally broken. This was purchased to replace the paddle type stainless steel slicer I had been using for years where if not careful you'll lose part of your thumb knuckle trying to cut sandwich slices. I've since retired that slicer and this will be my only cheese slicer needed for the rest of my kitchen years :) Great job Westmark.

Just a good European cheese slicer. I bought this for a greatly aged cheddar, I know this cheese slicer from Denmark and have always loved them, they are good for many cheeses like medium hardness, a little tricky for my aged cheddar though, I should probably have bought a cheese knife for that. But that's on me not the slicer. The cutting string is still holding up fine and there have been no rust or otherwise!
