Adviace Rheostat Variable Speed Control for Gas Fireplace Fan, Fan Kit, Wood Stove Fan, Fan Controller for Various Fireplace Blower Kits

Hooked the variable rheostat (speed controller) up to 1 blower unit out of two. This was temporary, as I will soon be rewiring to operate both blowers off of only one speed controller and only one 115v power cord. The rheostat operated smoothly, with a very smooth increase in motor speed as the dial was slowly turned. No heat issues that I've noticed so far and it's a very simple process to just wire it in to the black power lead (hot lead) anywhere between the power cord and the black motor wire(s). The rheostat control also makes a nice 'click/detent' when turned full counter-clockwise and into the 'Off' position.

I bought this for my Regency insert as the router speed control unit died last year and the cost had risen to $25 to replace it. This barely fits in the space that the old High speed/ Low speed / Off three way switch occupied, but it fits. The high speed was too noisy, the low speed too weak; the router control allowed me to find the sweet spot. This does the same thing, is not another cord to work around, and is much more affordable. You must have some basic electrical knowledge to make this change, and to reduce my liability (you are on your own if you choose to do this, I am not responsible if you fry yourself or burn your house down!)
