Tasty - add extra water and soak time
The ample quantity of meat bits tastes like real beef, the mushrooms are fully of mushroomy goodness and the noodles are a kindness to my tired body. The portion is revivifyingly large for one hungry person and reasonable for two who have been eating lots of hiking snacks. It's not going to replace the coconut chicken curry in my heart, but it is definitely something easy and tasty to look forward to at the end of a trail day. One caution is that the instructions understate the water and soak time and can leave the meat and mushrooms a little crunchy. I find a full 400ml of boiling water and a 20 minute hydration time with a second round of stirring/mixing half way through gives good results. Given that it's better in quality (and in quantity) than the fast food I might easily buy on the way to the trailhead, I'd say these are even pretty decent value as pre-packaged backpacking meals go.

Almost perfect!
Absolutely delicious! Great portion size, good ingredients, and really filling. Loved the mushrooms and the sauce. The meat had good flavor but it was cut into small cubes and they still didn't rehydrate very well. The noodles rehydrated really well and held up to a little longer soak/steam than the package said. The sauce thickened well at the 25 minute mark. If this was a couple bucks cheaper I would be inclined to stock up on these. I think Mountain House is a better value and the flavor is a pretty close runner up to Peak. All in all, it was a great warm meal at the end of a long day on trail.

Excellent!
I have been looking for something to replace MH products. It's been a number of years now since their freeze-dried food has been anything but barely edible. About Peak: The noodles actually hydrated...turned into noodles! Sure, that should be expected, but other brands have not done that for years. The 'beef' in this packet actually has the taste and texture and chew of real beef! Seasoning? Very good. Not spicy, not OVERseasoned to hide some other shortcoming. Price? High. 40-50% more than others. Are you happy with chewable, hard pasta in your camp out bag of dinner? There are less expensive products that will fill that menu item very well. Would you prefer a product that properly hydrates, tastes good, and makes for a very good dinner at camp at the end of the day? Try Peak. It is arguably on the expensive side. It is also without question far superior to what has been my tried and true (and now not good at all) dehydrated camp food brand.

Great for emergency preparedness
This is a favorite meal for our family when we go hunting and back packing. We started getting these for emergency meal prep because of the easiness of it, the taste is so good and the shelf life is excellent. It’s a little pricy but the quality is worth it.

Taste great
Love this easy to prepare just pour hot water into bag and in a few minutes you have hot food with chunks of beef in it taste great.

Okay
It was just okay. I much prefer the Mountain House beef stroganoff. I did like that Peak Refuel's ingredients are better quality and seem fresher. The beef was actual chunks and the mushroom pieces were large and very flavorful. The main reason why I prefer MH's meal is that I prefer the onion flavor. This meal had a very strong sour cream taste which I didn't like. So, while I liked the higher quality ingredients, I still prefer MH. If you like a strong sour cream and/or mushroom taste this would be a good choice. Also, add a little more water than what the package calls for or else it will be really sticky.

Update a year later. The Beef Stroganoff is the worst taste I've ever tasted. It is not even close to Beef Stroganoff or any meal at all. I could not finish eating it after adding my own peas and corn, it still didn't help this awful tasting. However, the Mac and cheese was very nice. This was fast delivered by UPS. courier service quickly! I ordered on Nov. 28, 2022, and it came on Dec. 2, 2022. Arrived days earlier than UPS posted. I'm keeping the 4 packs of Beef Stroganoff and 4 packs of Chili Mac stored away in the small box the 8 packs came in. I won't be taste-testing them until I need to use them in years to come when food is expensive to buy or an emergency food ration era comes. The date of packaging 2017- to expiry date is August 2027. So they are selling us their oldest packaging first.
