Good game
This is the Dark Souls of Strategy game. Deep mechanics and brutal gameplay, though it has fairly low replayability.

Sim City on Steroids!
I'm definitely old school, but that's because I'm old. When I was a kid, my parents bought a huge 10 pound metal box that had a pair of dials, and hooked it up to our 300 pound CRT television. An hour later we were playing Pong. I remember feeling like I'd been teleported far into the future. A few years later came the Atari, which was also a very memorable experience. By the time Atari's were replaced, I wasn't a kid anymore, and I'd become far too busy to play video games.Fast forward 40 years, and I was reintroduced to video games. Long story short, I'm terrible at today's video games, but there's one that I'm not too bad at, and that's Sim City. The kids laugh because even that game is considered old.Recently, a friend told me about Frostpunk, and said that it had some of that Sim City vibe. I found it on Amazon, and decided to try it out. It's a fantastic simulation game, and I really like that it has a great theme, with a rich storyline. It's not fair to compare it to Sim City, because it's something so much better. It's the first time that I can say that I'm better at a video game than the kids. I'm so glad that I discovered Frostpunk. It's Sim City on steroids.

How did we get here...
Enter a frozen waste land after the earths sun has dimmed and try to establish the last city in the world. It started well, normal hours, gathering resources, try to keep the people warm, fed and sheltered. But it quickly takes a dark turn. You start running out of coal and you need the heat so you issue 12-14 hour days. Your city grows, homelessness starts to be become and issue, people get cold and start getting sick, start complaining about the poor medical care you provide, so you institute radical treatment options and now 1/4 or your population are amputees. Hope is dwindling, unrest is at an all time high- and then you introduce religion. Priests roam the streets whipping people who do not repent, your society has turned to a religious dictatorship with the whole city blaming you for the cold and hunger and homeless. And then the biggest freaking storm ever decided to freeze everybody and the bodies pile up and the city revolts and exiles you to die in the frozen waste.5/5 - would recommend

Don't listen to the townies. You're chillin if you're a villain.
I got this on Steam Sale (?). Stupidly expensive since all the DLC is behind a paywall. It's a very short game once you figure it out...which took me a few tries.

Do you have a heart? Skip this game.
This game is awful. Not production value, but story wise. I knew it was a post-apocalyptic survival game, but...It’s way to depressing to play. They really didn’t have to go that far. It’s egregiously cruel. It’s not a city builder, so much “enduring despair and horrible choices”. If you’re into that sort of thing... well, you do you and maybe consider mental health care services. For me? I’m out. I’m returning it for a refund. Not my idea of fun.
