Really good. Did the job and my toilet now flushes without lots of pumping. As it happens, the old syphon was perfectly OK apart from the diaphragm. That's the bit that wears out. It's only a cheap bit of polythene, but to change it there's quite a pa-lava to remove the cistern from the wall in order to remove the syphon from the cistern and finally to get at the diaphragm. Now that I have this new Syphon, changing the diaphragm next time will be really easy and cheap. This Syphon comes apart in situ. No need to remove the cistern from the wall. To get the right size, you need to measure from floor of the cistern to the waterline, add 1 cm, then convert that to inches. Get that size. If you manage to get it exactly right, the syphon works as an overflow, allowing excess water into the toilet if the water level in the cistern rises too high. Not sure what the 2.25 inches refers to. I think that's the diameter of the downpipe than leads to the pan. I've fitted it now, so not easy to measure. (Why do they still use inches?)

The unit I received was dark grey rather than white shown in the pictures. It was a straight replacement, the thread fit perfectly and the size was identical to the unit I replaced. Works perfectly and I now have a working toilet than cost under £20 to fix so quite pleased! Delivery was slow using free delivery, ordered on a Wednesday, dispatched on Saturday and received it the following Tuesday. This was within the quoted delivery time however.

My toilet was not flushing fully (its 15 years old) and not being a plumber I thought I might take a shot at fitting this to my close coupled toilet, these are normally quite difficult for a beginner, however when I took off the cistern top I found that the old syphon was a 3 piece type, which means you don't have to remove the entire cistern or even turn the water off. the old syphon had "derwent" stamped on top so I was able to order a new one on line, this arrived in 2 days complete with gaskets and a pipe which you would need if your old syphon was a single piece type. The fitting was straightforward but unfortunately I couldn't use the new syphon as the connecting thread was different. I was however able to swap over the new diaphragm to the old syphon and this is working very well just like new. There is also a plastic plug on the side of the syphon which when removed gives a lesser flush to save water. All in all a very good product easy to fit and will last for years.

Very useful and fast replacement

Fast delivery and great communication by the seller. The toilet siphon was very easy to fit enough for someone with very little knowledge on plumbing. The great thing about this kit is that it comes in three parts, so if you buy like for like all you would need to do is change the part that is broken without having to drain the whole cistern down. Great product works very well. Does feel a little bit cheap the plastic, but it does the job.
