Probably the best nine speed cassette made!
Probably the best nine speed cassette made. All steel cogs with aluminum carrier that cuts the weight to about 298 grams. And while this cassette is not as light as the nine speed XTR (which in 11-34 weighs about 232 grams), the steel cogs of this XT unit last longer than the thinner steel and titanium cogs of the XTR unit. You also have to factor the price; I got this XT cassette when the prices dipped for $42 versus the usual XTR asking price of $150 or over. That is alot of money to save 70 grams. I put this cassette on my daily commuter bike and the first cassette lasted me 15 years! (back then the cassette was called the CS-M750) (the reason it lasted so long was that I faithfully replaced the chain every 1500 miles and checked the cog wear with a Rohloff tool) I just put my second cassette on, and am hopeful that it will last me many years as well. So, if you check chain wear regularly and keep your drivetrain reasonably clean, this XT cassette can last you a long time. Quality product from Shimano and easily five stars.

Shimano quality for a great price.
Lightweight, sturdy construction. The shifts are smooth and silent. If only Shimano made this with a 36T sprocket for 9 speed!

Helping my road bike climb better
There is a hill near my house that has about a mile of climb that gets to about 10% grade. It always kicks my butt. I was absent the day that they handed out climbing talent. 20 years ago I rode that hill with a 12-25 cassette, but these days having two additional gears really helps. I needed a drop hanger, but my Dura Ace 7700 short cage derailleur handles the range (with 39,52 chain rings).

Awesome at the price and with a new chain I have all my gears back
Awesome at the price and with a new chain I have all my gears back. Absolutely wrecked my rear wheel on a jump and managed to break my hand so badly needed surgery. Was not riding for four months and when I was ready I ordered two new wheels, new tires, a new chain and a new cassette. This cassette is brilliant and at a brilliant price, don't bother with XTR as its not worth the added expense of 99% of riders. The XT cassette is smooth as silk and really has helped my ride no end. I wish i had upgraded sooner.

I wanted and have come to enjoy the lower gearing availability
This cassette is being used on a road bike with compact 53-34 chain rings.. I wanted and have come to enjoy the lower gearing availability. With the 11-34 there is still plenty of higher gear capability. I no longer desire close ratio gearing. I am enjoying the comfort of this arrangement. I also use this same cassette for commuting and long distance loaded touring. Very well made reliable cassette.

Great Product
This cassette was purchased as a spare for the one currently on my touring bike. Now that Shimano has a 10-Speed XT cassette the 9-Speeds are not as easy to find. The current one on my bike has many thousands of miles on it and is just starting to show some wear. When touring it does not get cleaned, so by the end of a trip it is loaded up with grime and grease. But still working great.

Very Happy
Shimano stuff- always happy- had to grind off stubs on spoke side of largest sprocket so it fit without rubbing spoke chain guard -5 minutes-no problem
