EOB: The Eastern Greek Orthodox New Testament: Based on the Patriarchal Text of 1904 with extensive variants Review: Very readable - Nice sized font and very interesting translation explanations Review: The best modern English translation of the Greek New Testament of the Orthodox Church - I recently purchased the Eastern Orthodox Bible which is a modern English translation of the official Greek New Testament of the Orthodox Church. The English translation is simply superb and very clear. It strikes the right balance between clarity and elegance. The EOB is good for in-depth study as well as liturgical use. In fact both New Rome Press and Legacy Icons Press have published the EOB in Orthodox Altar Gospel Books. Legacy Icons Press has even published an Epistle Book (i.e. Apostolos) with the EOB text. The EOB Altar Gospel books have received the endorsement of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, the Antiochian Archdiocese and the Orthodox Church of America. So if you haven't picked up a copy of the EOB New Testament please do so AND pair it with the soon to be released Lexham English translation of the Septuagint coming out this November 2019 and The Modern English translation of the Septuagint available now on lulu.com. Also, pick up the full Greek Bible as used in the Orthodox Church and available here on desertcart. Finally, the Orthodox Bible in English, even if its in sections, and in Greek are available to all at the touch of a button. UPDATE: i just received my leather hardbound copy of the EOB New Testament from A&H Bindery in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. I posted a picture. Check it out. Its beautiful and awesome!

Excellent English translation for Orthodox Christians with helpful additional materials
Excellent translation with helpful additional materials. I like this better than the Orthodox Study Bible (which is just NKJV). I also have the Orthodox New Testament prepared by the Holy Apostles Convent/Dormition Skete, but have not used that one enough to comment. The EOB has a very good introduction, including a section on how it deals with matters pertaining to worship and Divine service, the Kingdom, Spirit, and other matters. It also provides brief introductions to the Gospels discussing authorship and dates, as well as themes. A similar introduction is provided for the Pauline Epistles, with a detailed comparison chart to Acts. A shorter introduction is provided for the other Epistles. The EOB's Appendices cover a variety of subjects, including the Filioque Controversy, distinctions between presbyters and bishops in Acts, Saint Matthew's discussion of the Church and the Apostles, the Orthodox understanding of the "brothers" of Christ in Saint Mark's Gospel, among other topics. The EOB has a nice layout with relatively few footnotes. The style is in block paragraphs with Dialogue as separate paragraphs, and Old Testament verses in italicized block quotes, making it easy to discern quoted Scripture.

Would Recommend buying
Clear reading, nice footnotes, beautiful icons, and educating works at the back of the bible. The only reason I left 4/5 stars is because the pages are prone to creasing.

My Favorite Translation
My rating is for the translation and the high quality of the supplemental material. Unfortunately, the publisher did not do a very good job of making the Kindle version of this book easy to navigate. There are links to each of the books, but not to any of the chapters within the books. And there is a lot of additional Appendices at the end of the book which are not even listed in the table of contents. I did not know they were there until I had completely finished the book of Revelation. Since many people do not even read the book of Revelation due to its difficulty, they may never discover these additional, rich resources, which is a shame. Otherwise, I love the book and highly recommend it, even with these technical faults.

Best New Testament version yet, must have for Orthodox/Christians
Extremely well produced new testament standalone of the Greek Orthodox church. Im not Greek Orthodox specifically but absolutely love this text for my Holy Scriptures studies. If I could ask for anything, it would be for this to be produced in hardcover instead of paperback
